Well the way that silvermagnate is just as good as interceptors, why not say for example imperial apoc stats for one of the amarr dreadnaughts, except the dreadnaughts get a speciallized bonus, but say take the imp apocs stats (around that) for a "base" and work off that

omg you guys and your 12/10/12 slot setups.
the last thing we need is 10 more slots to deal with in a laggy battle. And especuially with the low slots.. can you imagine the kind of cheezy damage and/or power you could get with 12 low slots to stick PDUs, RCUs and gun mods in? Better to keep similar slot layouts, but add more and bigger equipment with dreadnought like reqs.
I wana see 2400mm plate armor, and XL armor repairers, and 2000mm Howitzers, and UBerDooper Launchers that can shoot 2 torps at once, and ECM mods that take 100 cap per cycle but have 12 points of jaming strength... that kinda stuff.
Or even better... make Dreadnoughts UNIQUE. Like say, they only get 4 highslots, but each one gets a built-in, non-removable spinal mount that is slow firing, poor tracking, can only shoot something you're pointed at, wont even accept a frigate or cruiser as a firable target, but does a seriously absurd amount of damage. Each race would get a different type of weapon specific to their races tendencies.
And I think they shold be insurable... as long as its expensive. I mean really, for some people who are heavy PvPers but dont have 8 hours a day to play (me) its hard enough to keep a reserve of 30 mil so I can insure my new tempest the next time I loose one. If it cost 60 mil to insure a dreadnought I probably wont even bother unless I decide to spend a lot more time mining and a lot less time fighting.

Edited by: Vicarrah on 26/05/2004 22:52:19 IMHO Dreadnoughts should be slightly faster, more grid/cpu/shield/armour (but not excessive) and MAYBE 1 extra high/mid/lo slot depending on race.
anything more than this and you're risking getting into ubership syndrome. Dreadnoughts are means to be able to run bigger guns, but not necessarily more guns, cos if you want to look, there are other RL equivalent ships with the same amount of guns, just not as powerful.
maybe there's room for a dreadnought class of weapons, rather than hugely overpowering BS's?
<edit> Just noticed what Kashre said... not sure how you could stop it firing on cruisers/frigs, but we're eseentially talking the same thing... a new type of mounting, or a new class of weapon ;)

Well, I am of course a total programming nub, so maybe its not as simple as I imagine... but Id think they'd just make it work the same way you cant shoot ships with your miner II.

if they are supposed to be able to take on 2 battleships , they are gonna need about double the stats of a normal battleship. They shouldnt have double the slots of a battleship but double powergrid, cpu, hitpoint, speed, and maybe 1,5 the slots of a battleship

Give them a much higher top speed, like 250-290m/s, but give them horribly low agility, maybe twice as bad as the scorpion.

The dreadnought will almost undoubtedly require the flagship space command skill.
It will probably have similar stats to an imperial apoc
Those mega loadout style ships are coming in the mini titans

all the talk about the dreadnoughts needing to be faster with less hp but same or more guns needs to stop it is getting anoying it wont happen the devs have already stated that they will be super-heavy battleships so with this said all the talk about more slots than 8 is alot more truthfull than the talk about them faster or weaker -------------------------------

arnt u a lil ****y. PPl can say whatever they want, and noone has any real viable proof. Devs can change anything at the drop of a hat so dont be suprised if DREAD do turn out like RL dreads being fast and powerful with low hp.

I think they should be big round and have a truely stupid weapon that can destroy planets in one hit, but you have to be wearing slippers while commanding one
Also they should have a silly weakness like a lone frigate can get lucky and kill it in one shot.
not sure if this has been done before but sounds good to me.
