TheHardOne	Posted - 2008.07.23 00:03:00 - [1] If I have -10 with a faction and trian Diplomacy to lvl 5 will it bring me at -4.99. Im a RP and I was thinking if I did all story line missions and ruined my standings that bad I was hopeing the Diplomacy Skill at 5 would help me not be shot at by there police.

I can see -10 with a pirate faction, but Empire? It sucks if it's true, and you should be glad that Diplomacy 5 at least lets you travel around in that Empire's space without the navy coming after you. edit: wait I thought Diplomacy 5 only brought your minimal standing up to -6.0, not -4.99? Clarification please.

Dirk Magnum Spearhead Endeavors	Posted - 2008.07.23 00:29:00 - [11] Ah a question mark was lacking. No, Diplomacy 5 does not restore the ability to travel unharassed in that faction's space. However, as long as you have -1.9 standing or better with that faction's ally, you can run missions for them. Eventually you can restore standing with the allied faction to a respectable level, though it may take some time. If you have less than -2.0 standing with said allied faction then you've permanently alienated yourself from them, unfortunately. Personally I've always felt that killing enough pirate NPC's who are enemies of that faction should restore your standing over time (however great that time may be), but I don't believe that's the case in reality.

No agents of that faction will talk to you so you can't do missions for that faction. If you share missions with someone who can, you will find that you don't get faction increases. This seems to be about the only case in Eve where your actions will have a permanent effect on your Eve life. Which in my opinion is a good thing, but I am sure the Caldary whiners will be along soon to disabuse me of this idea.

If your standing is -5 for, let's say Amarr, then as long as you have the standings to run missions for Caldari you should still be able to bring your Amarr standings back up over time. I have -4 with Amarr (only Diplomacy 1 though), and I notice I get small standings increases with them after Caldari storyline missions. I don't think it's just my imagination.
Kahega Amielden	Posted - 2008.07.23 01:36:00 - [15] Do missions for groups friendly to that faction. It's not necessarily always Caldari + Amarr and Gallente + Minnie. For example, Sisters of EVE if I recall correctly is friendly with all (but most friendly to Gallente)

Actually we caldari wouldn't mind at all the permanent -5 with the federation i mean who wants to go to frog land anyway Hmmmm i wonder where the biggest trade hub in eve is let me think... oh yeah its jita but where is it, thats right caldari space. We're Caldari. And we're in the right.

No i dont think it will. I dont remember my standings exactly, but i have diplo lvl 5 and my Amarr standing is raised from -8 something to -4.7. My Angel standig is a bit worse then the Amarr one and is only raised to -5.something. So if you have -10 i do not belive diplo 5 will raise it over -5. In the diplo skill info it says it will raise the standing with 0.4 per lvl, i think that is when you have 0.0 in standing with the faction. When you have -5 it will actually raise it 0.7 per lvl and at -10 it will raise 0.9. So at -10 standing you will end up on -5.5. (im not 100% certain about this tho) Also be aware that a standing can only be affected by one skill at any time.
