I just started the game about 3 days ago and i've been working with another miner named "Kit Fox". So far I have trained my frigate skill to 3 and spaceship command to 3 and have just this morning have my industrial ship.
My question is, am I on track to be a successful miner? I haven't joined a corp yet, except the newb one. Should I look in to that next?
Just curious if i'm gimping myself (if that exists in this MMORPG).

kinda depends on what indy you got an what ship you mine with need more info oh an shameless plug we run a mining corp if you looking for that convo me in game:)

I got the Amarr Industrial Ship Bestower. Plus i'm working up cash for a better frigate but right now using a Tormentor.
I'll contact you in game later on today. At work right now :(

If you haven't got it already, save up and buy the "Mining" skill, and I would recommend training this to level 3 or level 4. It may take a couple of days, but it will earn you more ISK in the long run, because your mining lasers become more efficient.

Other tips
mining drones when safe areas and astrogeology.
get a frigate with lots of turrets/drone space
skills: drones, mining drones, mining, astrogeology, refining, specific refining skills for your prefered ores
and do some missions for the cporp you refine/sell at. better faction = less we take

get your learning skills upto lvl 3 ideally lvl 4/5 l8a itll make training skills go faster. Well worth the time investment early on.
dont worry about charisma to much tho

Just train everything but to focus on mining 1st get mining skill to lvl 4 then get a miner 2. next get your learning skills up. then astro to lvl 5 (takes a while but worth it)
