I currently do L2 missions with my Caracal but I would really get into the pvp aspect of this game but I don't know which direction to take. I was thinking of cross-training to Gallente ships for solo pvp but I'm not really a big fan of armor tanking and drones.
I'm also training for Caldari Assault Frigates, particularly the Harpy for doing L3 missions. Is there any other skill direction I should look into for pvp?

If you have some shield skills: go to minmatar. Some of their ships work well with missiles and a shield tank. --- Braaaiiinnnsssssssssss |

Edited by: Ariashley on 23/07/2008 19:58:36 I have been interested in the same questions, also being a fairly new player. I main suggestion I hear from my alliance-mates or friends in other Eve alliances that are skilled in PvP is to find a corp with people experienced in PvP and go on small gang PvP operations with them, flying something pretty easily replacable. Maybe faction warfare is for you or maybe a mercenary corp or a pirate corp or whatever appeals.
In the meantime, it makes sense to beef up your support skills to fly well those ships you can fly now, especially skills that aren't throwaway if you change to a different race's ships.
It makes no sense to train for Gallente ships if you don't like armor tanking and drones. You want to train for ships you will enjoy flying.
Once you get some experience, it will be easier to make a decision about what type of ship you want to fly. Missions aren't going to make you better at PvP, they're just a reasonable source of income.
And ya, Minmatar is a reasonable choice to cross train if you're Caldari, since many of the support skills can cross over.

cross train amarr and lasers for some cute sansha faction ships and they're supposed to be shield tanks. besides... lasers, the most powerful weapons family anyway, have received numerous "upgrades" the last few months. but it's an expensive path.... - putting the gist back into logistics |

Well, I pretty much shot down the idea of AF for L3. Gonna get Drake for L3/L4 and train some support skills. Is there any list of support skills I can find?
Maybe after that, I'll go for something for pvp-oriented. How are nano ships doing these days?
