Well, I originally created my Eve account back in 2004. I played for a few months then left for other games. I came back for a short 3 months back in 06 and again left due to time and RL stuff.
Well here I am again. I'm really enjoying it as well. I've spent countless hours going through the threads in this forum, as well as plenty of digging and searching through the FAQ's, guides. and fan-sites.
I have a pretty good handle on which skills I need to work on for now, I have 4 ships (Vigil,Reaver, Probe, and Slasher). I have enough decent gear to keep the probe and Reaver in service. I'm mainly using the Probe for some basic mining and the Reaver for anything I have to shoot at.
Due to the fact that I left and came back so many times, and how long ago that was, I'm having a problem figuring out where to run missions from. I'm only able to take missions from Lvl-1 Agents right now. I'm in the NPC Sebiestor tribe, have around 461k isk. I'm still under 1 million sp.
The amount of information is just staggering. I have trained high enough to get into the first 2 Minmatar cruisers but I think that would be jumping the gun a bit. If it wouldn't be too much to ask, could I get a little advice on where a good foundation could be established to begin running missions out of to generate a decent amount of isk?
Currently I've been running out of Geric 4 Leisure Institute. From what I can tell I should be looking for Capital or Intelligence agents for combat missions. I also just realized this morning that I need to get my hands on the Salvage skill as well.
Thanks for all the informative and helpful posts in this forum btw, the guides and advice have been invaluable in getting back into the swing of things here in Eve. The learning curve is astronomical but I'm having a blast so far.

As an FYI, I must have quit the game while still in the middle of the tutorial (which now I'm too experienced to go back for those missions). I have a feeling I should be at a deadspace station doing missions from there but again... I'm a bit lost. Thanks again!

Edited by: MotherMoon on 24/07/2008 18:20:21 When I get home I'll check for the system I used to mission it. it's in MH and it has 3 high sec systems near low sec with one no-station system with great mining.
the agents there are level 1 to 4 for the vheroikor tribe.
also doin't jump the gun yet and buy a rifter for shooting things :)

Edited by: Matalino on 24/07/2008 19:47:14 First off, welcome back. The purpose of the tutorial is to give you a tour of game mechanics.
If you feel that you need to run through the tutorial again, I would suggest creating a new character in one of the extra slots on your account, or create a trial account. Once you have completed the tutorial, you can return to using your original character.
If you think you can pick up the game well enough without repeating the tutorial, then carry on without worrying that you are missing out on anything significant beyond the instruction it provides.
As for finding agents to work for, I would suggest this site. You can feed it various criteria and it will help you find agents that meet those criteria.
Don't rush too far ahead of yourself. You are wise in following your instincts to remain in a frigate for a while. You will lose ships as you learn (relearn) how to play. It is much easier to replace a frigate than a cruiser, and just being bigger doesn't make cruisers better.

Welcome back to EVE, Locutious!
As Matalino mentioned, there are some 3rd party sites/tools that offer awesome information about agents. Another good, in-game resource is your star map!
- Open your map and go to the star map (zoomed out) view.
In the "World Map Control Panel" select the "Star Map" tab, then the "Color Stars By" subtab. Open the "My Information" folder and select "My Available Agents"
Ta da! Your map will recolor itself; the green systems have an agent there that will talk to you. The brighter/bigger a green dot is, the more available agents there are in that system. Find a system nearby with an agent you are interested in, right click and set destination, then pilot your way over.
Hope this helps, and again, welcome back

You can view the tutorial lessons at any time by clicking one of the buttons on the left side of the screen. I don't know if they'll generate the mission space with the training drone for you, though.
There are also several 10-part training missions (one for each race for each career: Business, Industry, and Military) and you can do those by going to the systems where the agents live. These are significantly different from 2004, I think. Somebody else got the list of systems and agents in a post earlier today in this forum, look around and see.

By the way I hope your combat ship is a Rifter, not a Reaper. The Reaper is the rookie ship and the Slasher, humble as it is, is a better choice for combat. A Rifter is better yet. On the mining front, a Burst is slightly better than that Probe is.

The Slasher is the fastest ship you can fly before you get access to nanofibres and MWDs!
I love my Slasher, mostly because noone else I know flies one :)

Yeah my first character was Minmatar and I remember when I could finally use tech 1 afterburners instead of civilian. I was like 900m/s!!! THIS IS SO FAST!!!

Heheheh yeah, Rifter not Reaper (though I still have that in my hanger). I'll look into hooking up a Burst when I get home tonight. Seems my returning to Eve has prompted a few friends to re-appear as well. We've got a nice group of 5 or 6 of us helping each other out now. I ran a storyline quest series last night (Shamans Secrets) and along the way made my first million.
I appreciate all the help folks, I have a feeling I'll be sticking with it this time!
(Oh.. and a Dev post... there's games where Dev's actually read the forums? Give me a sec to catch my breath from that lil surprise!) The map hint is nothing less than UBER! Thanks for that!
I was pretty impressed with that Story mission line last night. First time I've done one of those and it was actually pretty smooth. Took me a couple minutes to figure out I had to nuke a billboard but after that it all went swimmingly.
Thanks again folks I appreciate all the help!
