I'll vote for Dr. Doyle's invention, knowing perfectly well what she created. Perhaps we can have a chat, I'm interested to invest further into your research and development of NDAI01.

While I expect some people will have ethical issues with the use of semi-functional human brains in this project I think the possible future applications outweigh the issues and are greater than those of the other projects featured. Kai Zion and her research partners are clearly gifted individuals who are happy to go where others fear to tread. They get my vote.

Originally by: Kai Zion The current version (37.2) is composed of almost two hundred semi-functional human brains held in a non-frozen vitirifiable state. In order to fully harness and synthesize their computational power, they are first suspended in a non-toxic, protective profusiate and subjected to both sustained pressure and temperatures. From there, cellular nanoassemblers constantly reconfigure the neural pathways and synapses, creating and maintaining one composite whole. Ongoing synapse decay from the function-oriented rewiring delivers only 4 exaflops of combined computational power however, far short of the systemÆs true potential. Current research is focused on improving the synthesis process to limit these negative effects as much as possible.
Before casting my vote...
I'm curious, are the brains used in this project grown from clone biomass or harvested? And if harvested, where do the donors come from?
The potential research applications of this can't be ignored by our research division. But I would personally rather not profit from any endeavors that might be considered... inhumane. ---

You're free to buy the product and then do whatever you want with it. Opening and/or modifying it is at own risk and voids warranty as does implanting it in yourself and/or others without NHB supervision. _________

PROJECT/THEORY NAME: The Station Builder Super-Capital (Working name)
SUBMITTED BY: Grak Yarn
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In short, this ship would combine all the levels of production into an efficient format. To describe it, think of a long rectangular ship a few kilometers long. On one end, mining lasers the size of destroyers, tractor beams roughly the same size, and drone bays are used to gather material, from anything from asteroids to planets. They are then reprocessed within the internals of the ship into raw material (Veldspar, Zydrine, Isogen, Gold, Silver, etc.). The raw materials are then processed further in the machine (mid-aft), before being installed or built into the structure of the station. By simply programming the computer, you can create homes, hallways, docking bays, and anything else one could want in a station. Furniture not included, of course, but electrical systems and other such things could potentially be integrated flawlessly during construction. It could also be used to produce smaller things, such as ships, in large amounts and quickly. Ship wrecks (such as those titans leave behind) would become far less common, as these ships could collect and reuse their parts.
POTENTIAL APPLICATION: Stations could be built to epic scale and in a short amount of time. Also, due to the size of the ship and the internals, it could potentially be used to clear unneeded and lifeless planets out of the way, converting them into livable and working stations. Failsafes would be built in to prevent the destruction of planets with lifeforms higher at a level higher then simple multi-celled organisms. It only takes a small crew to run and maintain this size ship, and any damage suffered could be repaired on spot due to the production facilities. The cost would be far less then that of terraforming a planet, and far quicker. ______________________________________________ No expansion without equilibrium, no conquest without control. Pursue success in serenity, and service to the people. |

It would seem that I have yet to place my vote as well...
Out of respect for the cybernetic interfaces industry, I vote for Naqam Heavy Bioindustries' "Ultra" Happy Chip. While I am not fond of the prospects of mood alteration via cybernetic interface chipware, it does touch upon an area of the brain that has yet to be truly studied in-depth. My congratulations go to Naqam in their work on this device, and I am eager to hear of new information on how emotions are expressed electrochemically.
Statements in the above post, unless otherwise specified, are not the official stance of Lai Dai Infinity Systems. |

Congratulations to Naqam Heavy Bioindustries for winning this year's award for most outstanding achievement! Their advertising, ingenuity, and commercial appeal have given them a clear advantage in this event and credit is due for their inventive spirit. Honorable mentions are deserved for the projects that recieved votes, and to all those that took a chance in participating in the Summit.
Until then, I look forward to seeing you all next year.

Well done to the team from Naqam.
I can't say that I'm surprised our entry didn't win, I thought it was a long shot, but I am somewhat disappointed no-one voted for it. Such is life though.
Good luck to everyone for next time.
