EVE seriously gets away with murder with one thing - Environmental content. Mmporgs by their very nature are supposed to be heavily player vs environment, since its obvious that the lions share of players are not pvp orientated. Yet if you look at EVE, one has to wonder how the heck it managed to get through one here witht he content it has!
The PvE content is left to spawns - much like in other games except since there is no 'dungeon' content yet, its only pirate spawns either at 'points of interest' or at roid fields, and even these are not comparable to other mmporgs - they are all of little variety, a few variations of rats and thats it! The other are agent missions which is at the moment not bad - some of the new kill missions are actually interesting but this really is the start of what could be done.
Of course CCP have promised lots of changes - the blog shows new rat behaviour, Shiva brings in dungeons so lots of new environment encounters. Things like those strange looking rogue drones etc etc should all be introduced quickly - in fact there were hints of other environments such as ruins and so on in which these dungeon places would be set.
To be honest its what I miss most in EVE, outside PvP, there is no real reason to group to go against rats unless you are chaining which looks like it is counted as an exploit and likely be removed (from test forums), especially with no lvl 4 agents which supposedly require grouping. You may group to protect corp miners against npc rats but its not the most exciting thing.
I want to go into these dungeons with corp mates, have great big battles with rats with the corp fleet working together and slowly working through gaining rewards, in new environments. Im sure its not just me - I think its something the game needs desperately :/ Mining, agent running (kill/courier) do not create the same group cohesion that group vs environment does, and the only other place to experience this is player vs player battles.
As well as rats, there should be the same sort of thing if one wanted to pirate against npcs. As an Amarrian, I would love to raid against Minmatars - convoys carrying people that can be grabbed for slaves and so on.. how exciting would that be! Come on guys...

A place where Concord no longer polices or protects, 'human nature' thrives in all its distilled destructive self-serving glory. Welcome to hell ladies and gentlemen, welcome to what it really is to be human.'
