Last night the Caldari Militia became aware of the deployment of a Player Operated Starbase. This Starbase was kept under a running guard of between 3-5 carrier class vessels of the Gallente Militia. Recent intel indicates that the starbase is being used by former members of the Bruce Capsuleer alliance and that they will use it as a base of operations for a capital fleet numbering well over a hundred strong.
The Caldari Militia must call upon all available allies both inside and outside the state, if we are to stand any chance in maintaining our gains in Black Rise. Therefore I call upon the capsuleer alliances outside of empire space, we require your assistance in dispatching this new threat.

((OOC: Sorry, completely forgot that when I wrote this up.))
I must say the deployment of large scale capital ships in Black Rise makes me very concerned. Their choice of system to deploy the starbase at enables them to cyno capital ships to just about all of Black Rise, at their leisure. This will certainly force us in the State Protectorate to rethink our operations. But it won't scare off me from doing my duty to the state.
Of course, our friends in the Caldari Navy have some protection from these ships due to their deployment of facilities in deadspace pockets.
The stakes have been raised, and we'll have to respond accordingly.

Edited by: Friedrick Psitalon on 26/07/2008 19:07:21 If you really think The Dead Parrot Shoppe can field "well over a hundred" capitals, you're a bigger fool than the majority of the dimwitted Caldari militia... and that is INDEED saying something. If you want to see someone throwing around massive capital power, I suggest you gander at the Minmatar Milita's star capsuleer corp.
Also, if you think a starbase in one system is a major threat to your ability to hold Black Rise, your control of the area is more pathetic than we imagined. From our base of operations in Essence, we could already land capitals anywhere in Black Rise with a single strike. Your intelligence estimates of our capabilities are surpassed in bovine stupidity only by your ability to not read a starmap.
We are not "Former BRUCE Capsuleers." We are The Dead Parrot Shoppe - and it is nice to see that, just as in your high-sec when we wished it (and we will be back), when we come to your low-sec, you fear us and immediately take to the communication boards as a solution to your problems.
Fight the war you signed up for yourself, or go home. Quit crying for other people to solve your problems.
Pathetic wretch.

Perhaps my Fleet leader was misinformed of your strength then, or perhaps the intelligence that indicated such strength was a plant by one of your own agents in order to prevent our militia from hammering that Starbase last night.
In which case you've basically just admitted to your own weakness, and eliminated the deterence factor such faulty intelligence provided you. Though I too thought the estimates of your strength were greatly inflated, I held my tongue. I must say that the fact you gallente militiamen fielded several carriers to protect this new Starbase means it has some strategic value to you.
If it has value to you, then you can be sure its destruction will be of great importance to us.

Your assets which are in Caldari space.
It's a bit hypocritical of you to subtly accuse the State of being aggressive and ignoring the borders of other nations while blustering on about the Protectorate's pledge to remove a Federation-friendly Starbase in one of OUR regions.
You're right, the Caldari started a war the Gallente didn't want. But if you want to convincingly play the aggrieved party here - if you want to believably try and claim the moral high ground - then you're going to need to start by demonstrating that you have a respect for the borders of other nations that "Our Glorious Leader" clearly lacks.
Right now, though, this whole war is starting to bring out the worst in your pilots, which makes me feel increasingly that the recapture of Caldari Prime was a lesson in humility that we should have taught you years ago. I hate feeling like that. -

To Stitcher, and any other Caldari loyalist that would argue this matter:
Your facist leader is currently ahead two systems, if not more. You are currently winning this war, despite of a slightly higher casualty rating.
In all honestly, I fail to see what you are all complainging about. Stopping you and re-taking OUR territory will require some effort. Even better if your all ocupied with a starbase in Black Rise.

There are other strategic measures of victory then simple system occupancy. It is in those measures that the Gallente have focused most of their efforts by making us pay dearly for our gains. In addition to that we caldari may have weight of numbers, but few of us have possession of capital ships.
The Gallente have at least three carriers, more likely four or five. Yet despite this strategically powerful force, they have been unable to hold onto their systems. It speaks volumes of the strategic thinking or lack thereof that the enemy hasn't deployed that force offensively against our fleets or in defense of the federation navy.
I won't say that all of the Gallente militia lack strategic vision, the raids into Jita, Nourv, and the off-on gatecamp of Niarja have dangerous strategic implications for us. Most important of witch is increased difficulty to assist or be assisted by the Amarr thanks to the camp of that border system Niarja. Despite that you've failed to keep us Caldari in check.
You may lampoon us as the Squidy blob, or snipe us upon entrance to Black Rise. But in the whole time I've been in my time in the Caldari militia you've shown yourself more likely to run when confronted with equal numbers. To snipe our frigates and cruisers with stealth bombers and cruisers whose tritanium hulls have been stripped out and replaced by carbon nano-tubes just so you can cloak or run away rather then stand and fight.
You may inflict losses upon us that way, but you cannot prevent us from taking your systems from you. Be thankful the Caldari commanders have seen fit to allow you to keep your stations in our space and even allowed you to dock within our own headquarters. If we were to make this a total war, you'd have lost long ago.

Wrong.
first off, the various stations owned by the diffrent corporations around the war-zones are protected from annexsation by CONCORD's decree. You could not bar us from docking anywhere even if you wanted to.
Secondly, were this to be taken to a full-blown war, not onlywould the State navy but also the Federation anvy be involved, so you argument that we 'would have lost long ago' is very much mute. None would know what would happend were the navies to clash with one another, wether aided by the various capsuleers or not.
Thirdly, the majority of Federation militia capsuleers seem to be interested only in causing as much death to the Caldari militia as they can, and (apparently) don't give a damn about who owns what or anything.
Arguing that you would win in any fair fight is another foolish thing to do, because as much as you ar maybe even I would want it there is nearly no fair fights ever, even if the numbers and even ship types are 100% equal.
On top of that, we have other things to take into consideration:
Hubris. you seem to think, as I've stated above, that you would win in an all-out war. There seem to be a number of Federation loyalists who think the same for themselves. This is foolish, in the best of cases.
Regardless, whatever happends, this war can and will grind on for quite some time. The tide can turn any number of times, so we will see what happends.

I'd be amazed if the entire Gallente and Caldari militia's capsuleer forces could must've 100 capitals in the same location, let a lone a single corporation of a dead capsuleer alliance. It would be a rather amusing waste of resources though, given the lack of heavily reinforced targets that capital ships would be needed for.

Edited by: Remus Navillum on 31/07/2008 19:26:10 Hm. Now, I don't speak Militia Pilot, but I'm going to try and issue a communication in more or less the same tone as can be seen in these militia announcements. Forgive me if my dialect makes me hard to understand:
"Bluster and bladder. Feeble attempt at tactical analysis. Senseless political posturing behind a thin veil of knuckle-dragging machismo. Self-righteous indignation upon receipt of inevitable rebuttal. Churlish schoolyard taunt! Series of racial epithets! RED-FACED, FIST-SHAKING FIT OF IMPOTENT RAGE."
I do hope nothing was lost in the translation.
Are you all having a good time as the empires make pawns of you, and make sport of this so-called war as millions of navy personnel die aboard the countless ships you unblinkingly sacrifice to the senseless fray? At least you can rest assured that your squabbling has provided a healthy shot in the arm to the arms and spacecraft manufacturing sectors of both empires.
What's more, the territory you tousle over is ultimately useless political bacon. Preliminary strategists seemed to think that control of Black Rise would provide one empire with a highway to the other's capitol region, but now it is poised to simply become another industrial soup, where an inevitable stalemate will force a ceasefire, followed by uneasy industrial development by both sides. You know, kind of like Fountain. And we know how well that turned out, yes?
Anyway, have yourselves a jolly time. Perhaps when the naval personnel pools dry up and nobody is left to crew your ships, you'll renounce your allegiances to the defunct bureaucratic/theocratic/plutocratic entities you so blithely sacrifice your time and capital for.

Considering the politics and any hope of a peaceful settlement are out of our hands, we in the Caldari militia don't devote as much attention to politics or propaganda unlike many of our opponents.
Though I do have a couple thoughts on the allegations that the Caldari Militia is nothing but numbers. To put it quite simply, thats just an excuse by the Gallente to comfort themselves for their failures. Are there more Caldari militia members then Gallente? Yes. Do the Caldari regularly field more ships in a fleet then Gallente? No. Do the Caldari regularly deploy more fleets then the Gallente? No.
To put it bluntly, only a small portion of the Caldari militia is ever engaged at one time, because they take time off to make isk to buy another battleship.
Apparently, from recent events I think the Gallente commit more personel at one time then the Caldari do, and since they don't have time to build up isk to replace their losses this has resulted in a recent shift in Gallente tactics.
Two days ago I was participating in a fleet op with around forty other Caldari pilots. During the op we were engaged three times by numerically superior forces. The first time we ended up refusing to engage after having the enemy warp in multiple times at ranges in the 100+ km range. They were a sniper fleet and we weren't setup to engage such a force.
A few systems over the Gallente pulled the same trick, attacking with a numerically superior force setup as snipers. This time we in the fleet said the hell with it and engaged despite having to cross 100km to reach the enemy.
Something very strange happened, we won. We won a battle we shouldn't have. The Gallente fleet began to withdraw as soon as our interceptors got into range. Not only that, but we managed to bag a couple of the enemy on their way out, but we'd have had many more if the majority of the enemy fleet wasn't equipped with warp core stabilizers.
Then another couple systems over, it happened again! The enemy warped to us at 100 km, we engaged... and only got a few cause they were all stab equipped! Whats even more astonishing is that we didn't loose a single ship while engaged by these fleets (We lost a couple frigates earlier to Apocolypse class battleships in Tama).
But thats not what I find most interesting about these fleets we engaged. Their composition was rather unusual for the Gallente Militia. Up until that engagement we'd seen a large number of Minmatar cruiser hulls, and a large number of gallente battleship hulls (Mostly Domi and Megas). This time we only saw one hostile battleship, and the majority of the enemy fleet was using Celestis-class cruisers and Brutix-class Battlecruisers. A far cheaper option for combat then those battleships and nano-hacs we'd seen a lot of before.
Are the Gallente hurting for isk or are they just a little more timid with their heavy ships?
