Is there any way to play so others dont know your are on apart from if they are in the same system as you you show up in system chat?
Is it possable to play like this or not if you are in a corp or are on peoples address books?
Many thanks

If I put you in my buddy list, I get a notification every time you log in or out....and if I look in my buddy list I can see a red or green dot next to your name.
edit: not evryone in my buddy list is there because they're my buddies ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

Many thanks for your answer.
I thought that would be the answer but just asked in case it was not.

If I remember correctly, it has been noted by devs that the Buddy List, along with local, were not intended to be used as intel tools. Whether this means it's an issue that's being looked at or is being left alone is a different matter entirely.
Regardless, unless the Buddy List gets bugged (can happen), they'll know when you log in. War dec I'm guessing?

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 27/07/2008 17:40:25 I'm thinking that if they changed the buddy list it'd be so that people you are trying to add to the list have to consent to it first. That would effectively take away its power as an intel tool.
As for local... personally I could live with constellation chat only IN LOW SEC. Constellation chat in High Sec could have some complications. Think how horrible it would be to try to use local in the constellations where major trade or mission hubs reside.

I don't see the issue. Intel is telling you where they are, what they're fitted with, etc... Addressbook just tells you if trying to find them is a waste of time or not.

Keeping tabs on which MS/titan pilots are online is quite valuable info.

True, but what's the alternative? It would make corp v corp wars a nightmare, since half the time you'd get a gang together and they wouldn't even be on.
