I'm bored in EVE.
I've tried being a CEO.
I've tried hunting down ships of a corp we're at war with.
I've tried deep space mining.
I've tried fleet battles.
I've tried empire mining (gah, carebear!)
I've tried exploring for hidden belts/etc.
I've tried camping NPC spawns (gah, carebear again!)
I've tried trading.
I've tried agent missions.
I've tried production/research.
And its all boring.
But there's one thing left.
Pirating.
I want to hear from all you pirates, pirate hunters, and former pirates: What are the pros and cons of going pirate... how fun is it... and what I have to do to make it fun?

Actually pirating is great fun and using team speak makes it more social then you would think.
+ you'd be amazed at how good a recruiting tool it can be :P

I wouldn't test anything out in empire. Sec takes major hits, -10 club is ez to get ;D

LOL. Second question. And third.
1. What are some tips and tricks for pirating...
a. Alone.
b. In groups.
In 0.0 space, in terms of where, how, what to use, etc?
And...
2. How fun is mercing, for say Reikoku, Merc frigs, or any other merc corp? Is it worth it?

It would be pretty hard to pirate in a reaper with almost no skills =P

I've done most of the stuff you can do in eve and pirating is the most fun by far. 'Nuff said

I've done it all too Silverlancer and I found myself in a similiar situation. I knew I needed a change and when KROM was starting up they asked me to join them. I had been with MASS since last summer and made many friends. I was well-established in MASS but I found playing EVE was becoming tedious.
I joined KROM, a pirate corp with no alliances and excellent finances. We traveled as a crew and made raids on regions I had hitherto never traveled. We had no need to check corp info, so we killed and ransomed all passers by, irregardless of their affiliation. It was such a change from being in the goody-goody Stain Alliance and their anti-pirating stance.
I have had more fun in the past 3 weeks than probably the last 6 months of EVE, ganking whoever I feel like. But this too will become boring I fear, that is unless CCP gets off their duffs and add some new content.
This game doesn't get any better than rolling with a tight crew of PVPers, going wherever you feel like, attacking whoever you feel like (or everyone), and taking whatever you want. I'm sure an experienced player like you has connections and can get together a group of m8's u can trust. Give it a try, you deserve it!

Or maybe the definition changed, but everything we can do now as piracy sucks big time in the comparison of the Mid 2003 Original Blackbird Pirate.
Blame CCP and keep mining.

-10 doesn't mean you can't travel through empire space though.One word: Insta-Bookmarks.You can be -10.0 and fly your scorp through yulai no problem if you have atleast 2 MWD's fitted.

In the end shooting frigates gets dull, its nice as long as you have loads of battleships coming through. Its more of a challenge.
But id never say no to an indy

a merc is just a pirate with an excuse, jus get a warp disruptor and some guns and go ransom people its worth lots and lots of money sometimes (quiet days are really really bad) also pirate in empire because not many people go around with pvp setups (dont blame me if they do  ) its good fun jus go do it.

go for it, ur bored of everything else. I pirated for a while, then after gettin to -2.9 i found travellin in anything but a shuttle or frig with mwd a pain. So i stopped..... then started again cos its a lot of fun.
You can easily travel through the highways in a shuttle, i normally manage about 8 jumps before concord finally catch up, makes travellin a bit more interesting ;) ... doin the 15km approach with a bunch of ships locking u ;) in a frig with mwd u would have no probs.

Now, finally. Lets say I want to try it out and maybe go evil and pirate . Note for everyone who knows me--I haven't decided yet, I'm just checking my options.
So I'm looking for a pirate corp with...
1. More than 2 people. Really. I think you know what I mean.
2. Who can deal with someone who isn't on 15 hours a day.
3. Who maybe, just maybe, kills discriminately. Meaning that they scramble/web the indy, scan the hold, and if it has nothing, obviously its going to be coming back two days later full of zydrine  .
4. Who isn't a bunch of wimps. I'm sick of pirates who jump to safespots and then smacktalk you.
So if you think your corp is any of these, contact me. I'll join with my alt, see what its like, and if I like it... I might quit the goody goody Stain Alliance for something different.
And by the way, nice definition for mercing . Sad thing is... most of the time... ITS TRUE!
