Dear pirates ,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you have done for me over the course of the last two years. I have no doubt that my experience in EVE would have been very different without your undiluted commitment to your role and the energy that you have put in all your endeavours to make life more exciting for all of us.
I would like to thank you for your outstanding characterization of the evil side in one of the best light vs darkness dichotomies I have ever seen in a virtual world. Eve would not be the same without your theatening, boastful and carefullly designed messages in your BIOS, as well as the attention to detail shown in the election of your portrait in order to faithfully represent the most disgusting and repulsive side of the human soul.
I would also like to show my appreciation for your menacing behaviour in space; for the countless hours that you have spent hiding behind a stargate to provide us with the thrill and adrenaline that derives from the knowledge of belonging to an unsafe world, and the pleasure and enjoyment of experiencing authentic adventures on a daily basis. There is no doubt that our fantasies of fighters of the light and knights of renaissance and civilization would be very difficult to accomplish without your necessary presence in the galaxy.
This message of appreciation, however, would not be entirely truthful and sincere should it not been accompanied by my deepest sympathy with regards to the circumstances that have probably led you to choose and enjoy such despicable role in the game. Recent studies in the field of sociology have shown that the figure of the "bully" in modern society, both in educational establishments and at work, is the logical psychological reaction to a series of highly damaging events in the life of a person. Despite our initial and perfectly understandable feeling of rejection towards these individuals, we all must make an effort to see their actions as a self-defence mechanism not to surrender to their weaknesses, their fears and their incapacity to lead a cooperative and constructive life in society.
I very much hope that your actions in the game, without which my enjoyment of this universe would have been enormously affected, have provided you with a useful path to your successful recovery and the capability of playing without anger, remorse and violence in the near future.
Once again, my most sincere gratitude for everything you have done for us.
Kind regards,
Alexander Lywn ("carebear")

I¦d like to believe the OP was trying (and succeeding) to be funny.
If not...
well, the kind of hate that scares me the most is not the violent, sudden rage that visits all humans at some point or another. The kind of hate that I fear the most is the cold, slow burning, methodological and thought out hate that is displayed in the OP. The kind of hate that only a true madman can feel.
Which is why I¦d like to believe the OP was trying to be funny.

I agree, all pirates suck at real life and hide away in a game trying to make something of their lives by having a pretend job to make lots of pretend money; then hording it away so that they can log on and stare at their wallet and skill points then sit back and tell themselves, "I win at eve"

it's me! i'm the damaged child in the OP! though tbh i think it's completely out of order to single out those of us that, through no fault of our own, received the unwanted attentions of our naughty uncles when we were kids. if you saw a kid in an alley weeping after just recently being raped, you'd try to help the kid no? what's so different about being online that instead of helping us, it's ok to be patronising and belittle our nightmare childhood. shame on you sir. _____________________________________ today i am this cool: [uncool]================[*]====[cool]

I love these carebears that think just because we enjoy blowing up little pixels on our monitors, we must have been abused as a child, bullied in school, or touched in our naughties by Uncle Pedobear.
Take whatever those "studies" say with a grain of salt. Anyone that uses piracy as a sort of self-defense mechanism is the same kind of person that takes a gun to school and shoots everybody.
I pirate because its simple fun. What else should I do, run missions? Why? This game has the worst PvE I've ever seen, so why bother doing it? Win or lose, piracy is fun (and I don't mean that ***** ass gate camping or can flipping, I mean lurking the belts for prey), and theres nothing psychological about it. When one activity is more fun than the other, why do the less fun activity?
Now if somebody buys their isk and I destroy it, then they deserve it. If their too incompetent to get their isk like everyone else and have to resort to buying it (whether through chinese sweatshop or GTC), its not my problem and I have no sympathy. I belt pirate, and theres a thousand and one ways to avoid getting killed by me. If you rat in any system my corp or I are in, and you don't use the tools and techniques at your disposal to avoid certain death, then you don't deserve to be in low sec.
End of the day, Eve is a game. When somebody ejects from their ship and I steal it, when I pod them, when I scoop their corpse to add to my collection, its nowhere near the same as catjacking, stabbing \ shooting, or taking a hacksaw to their bosy and making chili from it. Eve is pixels, 1's and 0's, and death isn't real. All I'm taking away is the time it took them to get the ISK for their ship.
In the real world, a schoolyard bully may indeed be an abused child. Piracy, Eve, and videogames in general are not the real world. We play our role, we do whats fun, and we pay the same monthly fee as everybody else. Don't use some bullshit study to generalize us all in to the "Abused child" catagory.
