Hi all,
Bit of an issue with finding both unknown and cosmic signature signals in the same space. My multispectral showed both an unknown and a radar signal in a .3 system, so i scanned out the unknown and found a combat site. Thinking "Hey, one down! Radar here we go.." I continued scanning and found.. Another combat site!
Has anyone else had an issue like this before when two types of signal appear in one system? Any ideas would be great...
Cheers,
Jinks.

Another Unknown could have spawned while you were probing/doing the first, and the Radar may have been done by someone else or is still there.

Thanks for the swift reply! I've just been back and checked and it still shows just one unknown and a radar..
Wonder if its possible to have more than one of the same type in system with any signal type.. Ah well, what a strange world Eve is sometimes

There can be more than one site of the same type. When you scan it will only show the types not the number of each type.
I had a wierd one once. I had a grav and a mag site and scanned down the mag site with grav probes (big pain) Apparently the grav site was popped. lol.

Thankyou.. Makes life tougher when hunting for radar sites but hey, suppose it keeps things interesting too.. If anyone has any suggestions on the most efficient way to deal with multiple signals in system when solo exploring give me a shout either here or in game.. Would like to know of there's any sneaky methods you have figured for doing this well!

.. this
Best thing to do is it place your Quests with good coverage then start scanning for the full hour that they last, don't warp straight to a hit and start on stronger probes just yet .... just warp there, bookmark the spot with a name like 0.023 - 1.67AU etc and carry on with the Quests. Once the hour is up you should be able to see how many sites there are, discard a few crap hits where you have better, then swap to stronger probes and pin down the sites. Quests are useful - don't waste them :)
hmm . reread yr post - maybe you are doing this already ? *crawls back into box* :) -------

I was actually thinking along those lines, but its always nice to have someone confirm that your on the right track :) at least next time i see two signals in system i'll have a set process regarding the best way to deal with it! Thanks for all the good replies guys.... The forums have never failed me yet! P.s. Good idea on the naming conventions! In stealing that idea :)

I tend to take this a bit further by adding the date (ie .02/.4au/9-23-08). I've also found up to 4 unknown sites in a system; the man is wise to use his quests so. Don't like Minmatar space? Put yourself on the contact list for hisec hidden asteroid belt bookmarks [currently operating in: Kador, Derelik, Domain]

I took that one more step further and made a website for my corp to track their results so people know who was scanning and what was found in each system.
Of course no one explores anymore :(

here's what u do
when u find the unknown, cloak off the gate and keep scanning
if u get a hit on the unknown again--it will show ur exact location and then u KNOW that uve hit the unknown
if u keep a pen and paper and good bookmarks that works for other unknowns also
for example, i find 2 unknowns and now i need the radar---i relaunch my quests then warp off one of the unknowns
then when i get a quest hit--i warp to the 2nd unknown and cancel warp
this lets me see how far the warp WOULD have been, and i compare that to the probe result
thus i can see TWO unknowns at once and still find the radar
hope this helps
PS--some of the unknowns are so easy that u can just stick an alt in a cerberus in there and clear them up in 15 min
that helps with the radar sites |

My record so far is 4 unknown and 2 magnetometric in the same system.
