I was just wondering what program(s) CCP uses to write their material?
I'm currently been using Music Maker 14 Professional and Acid 6, but am finding them to be quite limited as far as the sound loops / pools go. I'm also still saving up for a Roland V-Synth GT, which is one of the best keyboards you can buy.
I was wondering if a forum Mod might be able to ask and hit me back with a reply?
I'd take a guess and say something along the lines of several midi keyboards and maybe Reason 4.0 or ProTools etc.

I'd be curious too. I think in one of CCP's videos you see Jon Hallur using an electric guitar, but that's all I know about the music.

People are too harsh on the sound. The music isn't half bad ù it really contributes to the atmosphere. A friend of mine who recently played the trial really loved it. Sure, it gets boring after a while, but given how much some of us play Eve...

You've got it all wrong. Eve's music is pretty awesome - unless you've heard it a million times, which applies to any song. It's just that Eve's sound engine sucks balls.
If the engine didn't degrade performance drastically, even on the best systems, people would have it turned on - if they could turn off the nasty background effects like jumping.
When Eve has a sound engine based on post 1990 (and I mean 1990) tech, people will listen to the music, and maybe some of the sound effects, since even pretty archaic games gave options for which effects were played or not.

Being a music producer in R/L, you can basically download any ambient soundkit and layer them together in programs like acid very easily. CCP should have a music contest for isk so I could have a chance at making the money I just lost in polycarbs back.

I agree the warp sound is irritating. I didn't realize the engine itself was that antiquated, though.

From the sound of most of them they use the feed back from a zx80 sound chip.

It'd be nicer if that 2,000db boom wasn't in it. Remove the sonic boom from warping

realX uses Akai MPC1000 or 2000 or something and some other stuff, there used to be a video from one fanfest where he's playing live. Obviously his studio setup is prolly abit more complex, who knows. We could hope a dev goes tell him to say something in here.... ________________________________

I saw a little clippet of video when he was working on some of the material, but it only showed a handful of things. I knew he used some sort of rack equipment, but it actually looked realitively old by todays standards. Obviously he had a couple keyboards layed out, one of which looks a little like a synth station similar to the V-Synth GT that I was looking at, and again, all the important info like make or model wasn't shown... That hardware I'm perfectly fine with, being a bass player of 8 years, I have a really nice Ampeg rack setup, I also have a 1000watt JBL PA setup, pretty much the makings of my home studio as it is. Just need to pickup a few odds and ends like a Midi in/out, the keyboard and a couple decient programs to use to mix it all down.

Have you never tried Fruity Loops aka FL Studio?

I'm not sure what CCP uses, but if you want the opinion of someone who knows a thing or two about producing software, I'd go with Ableton Live hands down.

I have been a Magix user for years. Here's a couple of tips if you are finding yourself limited:
1. Buy a soundpool 2. Use the online shopping. There are full sets of loops there. Some are outstanding. 3. Buy a cheap midi keyboard for your computer and go to town!

True story: I installed Ubuntu so I could use LMMS for free while playing Eve Online at the same time.
