I just started and hope to become a pirate-type eventually. The question is how come people who report pirates not honoring ransoms get flamed so hard here?
i.e. Joe Blow says "soandso did not honor a ransom" then 20 pages of "QQ more nub"
The reason I ask is because the entire idea of ransoming looks like lots of fun and maybe even profitable. Ganking can be fun, don't get me wrong, but nothing was more fun than forcing people to pay or else. Sorta like early Ultima Online, stealing someones Castle keys and selling them back for $$$.
Anyways, I would have thought that people reporting pirates not honoring ransoms would be more embraced by the community since it would mean more cash overall. Seems dumb.. but maybe I am new.

Cause c+p has alot of people that just like to post negitive stuff.
As for the ransoming works good but you need to catch mission runners not people at gates. So hit me up in-game mt corp is training some new pirates all ready so one more would not hurt. I garantee you will be flashy red in a month(the pod squish sound changes people.........................)

I never played WoW, but I see it a lot in TF2. I assumed it was a general "cry more" kind of thing.

the only part of TF2 which had it in was that pyro achievement, and I've only heard WoW players use the term. I might be wrong though.

actually, "less QQ, more pew pew" was pretty much an EVE meme a few years ago.
Before WoW even existed as a matter of fact. =============================================== *If you get offended by something I say, you were probably supposed to* *signatory of the "Post with your main" society* *this space for rent* *1 m |

First time I heard it was in EverQuest and exclusive to The Nameless server, reason being, when EQ released in Taiwan, "The Nameless Server" translated into "Name Your Server". That being the case, the majority of the servers population were Taiwanese.
"QQ", "wuwu","^^", "@@", along with strings of Taiwanese curses were pretty much part of the servers lingo. Although, "^^" was pretty common in UO, especially the west coast servers like Sonoma (the Galad's cracked me up).
I think that style of "QQ" got really popular in WoW because most of the lead devs, project managers, artists(Rob Pardo, Jeff "Tigole" Kaplan etc) and what not for WoW all played in a the same guild in EQ, Legacy of Steel. The devs were using it occasionally on the WoW boards, and it got popular, although the nimrods who read the boards mistook "wuwu" for a good thing. It means sad, ie QQ==wuwu.

I just googled it, apparently QQ is an emoticon of eyes with tears. It's funny because QQ is the most popular instant messenging software (like AIM/ICQ/googletalk) in China. I always wondered if the meme came from Asia, meaning something like chatting/whining instead of acting.
