If you've got a minnie ship, you're doing explosive damage already.
Gal drones have highest damage mods, so most damage, so I use them. ---

This is also true. However using huginn/rapier usually means you're fighting nanoships, where hammers don't exactly catch up, and valks will.

I thought they had bigger drone bays than that.

Puck gets the cookie for the correct guess on the ship type. I guess I should have phrased the question different. 3 med/2 lights or 4 meds?

Foiled. 3/2 split will do more damage, but I'm OCD, so 4 meds for me.

The cyclone and Sleipnir both have 40m3 as well, I'm partial for 3 meds 2 lights configuration.

That's 20 bandwidth, so 4 lights, no ifs or buts.

Edited by: P''uck on 31/07/2008 12:47:07 Just wanted to pop in again to say: if its not pve, and you have all your drones out, I'd suggest using stuff that has the same velocity, hence 4 valks on the gal recons.
It's just personal preference, if you want to reason about it, you could argue its similar to "never mixing blasters and rails".

Bad example. If you mix blasters and rails you spread your DPS. You deal low damage close, low damage far, and no way to concentrate it.
In case of drones, using 3 meds 2 light you nov only have higher overall DPS, you ALSO have small part of your drone dps more mobile, without sacrificing anything.

No it isnt.
Half your dps cannot be applied in most cases, because of speed. That's very comparable to different ranged guns.
Do you want to set two warriors on a frig and 3 meds on that single target that is slow enough to be hit? I for one dont. also the dps difference between 2 light&3 med compared to 4 med is negligible.
edit: sure i sacrifice the option to attack small, fast shit with 2 warriors in my config, but boy, anything that can be killed by 2 warriors probably wasnt a real threat to begin with, ey

You are correct. There is VERY little DPS difference between 2/3 or 4. I guess being a drone pilot for so long it just FEEL wrong only have 4 drones out when I know I can control 5 lol. Yeah, I know, stupid reason.

one thought is to use 5 warriors anyway.... if your in a cloaking recon, you can actually fit 8 lights in, which means when you had to bail and lose your drones, you still have some in your drone bay incase of more battles. Your main role is the ecm you provide, not the damage.
i personally use 3/2 option, mainly due to speed. and because everyone seems to like to shoot my drones! so i'll end up with 4 again... just hope they go for my warrior as its the first there. and that negible damage all adds to tbh, and when you need all the dps you can get :)

well, actually i think feeling is the best reasoning in case
In the end you're most likely best off with whatever gives you the warmest, fuzziest feeling on undock. You feel uncomfortable with 4 drones, I feel uncomfortable with drones that have different velocities.
So in the end the proper solution is probably to disable drone brackets
