I don't understand, really, CCP, why you must have downtime every single day. Wouldn't it make more sense to operate like a progressive MMO (WOW, AOC, etc) and have 1 downtime per week as a service to your loyal and paying customers who really don't want to see daily downtimes.

Daily downtime is essencial due to single shard server, unlike AOC, WOW etc where your limited to the ammount of people you can play with (on the same server).
Im sure (extended)downtime dosnt effect you that much... go get lunch, go outside, whine on the foru - oh nevermind.

I like the EvE down time. It cleans up all the lag zones and repopulates the mine fields. that alone makes it the best 22 mins ever not playing EvE.

Does AOC and WOW have 220,000+ people on a single server that they need to mentain.
Maybe also because the EVE database is proly thousands of times bigger than your normal WOW server?
Maybe also because the Traquility cluster is one of the most powerful computers in the world?

1. Other MMOs look like the execution of a valve computer compared to EVE.
2. Mine fields, etc... have to be repopulated.
3. It is 1 hour every day. You can play EVE 23/7 rather than 24/6 (I know which I'd rather have).

STFU. I'm sick and tired of people who have absolutely no idea about how the servers work, saying "do it like WOW" should get you instabanned imo. You on the other hand have a special place up there, as you weren't clever enough to work out you were still on the same char for this gem:

I have no complaints with the current system... but I am living in the US
I can see how Overseaers might find this extremely annoying.. Imagine not being able to login during your lunch hour or for an hour after getting home from school/work
Maybe a rotating dt schedule? e.g. 12:00am monday, 1:00am tuesday, 2:00am wednesday? probably screw up CCP's schedule tho
