I tried to join a corp and tried to have rational conversations with people in game and all I get is harasment, swearing, filth and negativity.
I'm about to try another game but will stay if somebody can explain how I have fun without joining a corporation.
All the corporations I joined so far have treated me unfairly and been rude and abusive. I thought this was a game I could enjoy and I paid hard earned money.
Please explain where I can have fun and not have to be verbally harased and abused the whole time.
Thanks.

If people in your corporation are treating you like that, you're just joining the wrong ones. Try EVE University. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

*sigh* Another hall monitor thread.... Ok, let me try this:
"You get most likely treated that way due to your insufferable personality and sheer incapability to grasp common sense and normal social behavior. The abuse you get is merely a reaction, a reflection of your own way of acting. Try to do some social interaction course. Alternatively, stay out of player corps and strike up conversations with random asteroids. I heard Omber is very delightful to communicate with."

lol, assuming that you didn't deserve the abuse in some way, your best bet is to find a large, mature well established corporation. I have no idea which one... I hear Eve University is good

If one group of people gives you a hostile reaction, well, maybe they were just jerks.
if every group gives you a hostile, it's possible that the problem lies elsewhere...
...what kind of abuse?

Let's see - you have a fundamental issue with Eve's central mechanic (pods, from your earlier, now locked post), and you can't seem to get along with anyone. Don't let the stargate zap you in the butt on the way out.

People are *ssholes.
Even the nice ones are usually *ssholes putting on a good front.
And when people don't even have to put on a front, because they are hiding behind an anonymous moniker?
They are even bigger, c*ckier *ssholes.
Good luck with EvE U. Good crowd, there.

This is a MMO.. the whole point is to have fun with people. There is allot of crappy corps out there but there are some fun ones as well. Or start your own corp and kick the people you dont like. Theres always ways around it. You could go at it alone but you wont have as much fun.
If you do leave can i have your stuff?

Obvious troll is obvious.
Even in Jita local, Motsu local, or a system where a BOB fleet is fighting a Goon fleet and you're a neutral (and I dare you to find anything worse than that), you can still have a rational conversation. In the damned LOCAL channel. If you can't do that in your own corp channel (whatever corp that might be), you either have a lousy corp selection method, or a lousy personality.

There is also this certain type of behavior which many people exhibit where a fair amount of ribbing is passed about between friends... I have run in to a couple people now that seem to take every good natured jibe as a personal affront causing them to get offended.
Just a thought... -=^=-

I was like that for a LONG time, so I know exactly what you mean. It's hard to see it in yourself, but when you finally feel part of a group and see it in somebody new, it's hilarious ... and eye opening.

OP sounds like they got a string of awful corps. Try looking for ones that hire specific people, not just anyone, they usually have nicer people in them.

While this is indeed ObviousTroll, I'd just like to point out that in my experience EVE is in general more fun solo. Whenever I interact with other players in-game in any meaningful way it makes me want to quit. Maybe I've just been mixing with the wrong people though. -

If, when having these rational conversations with folks you respond to the first hint of "negativity" like you did in your previous post, no wonder you get harassed. You are just asking for it.

Nope wrong again. I will not be harased and insulted in this manner. I will be forced to take this up with my lawyers if you persist in making fun of me and calling me a "troll" when IM A PAYING CUSTOMER AND HAVE A RIGHT ON THIS FORUM JUST LIKE YOU.
Threatening legal action over a forum post is silly and will cause people to laugh at you. You really need to take comments (and yourself) less seriously and learn how to deal with people more effectively. Stay in an NPC corp and practice your social skills in the corp channel. Just block or ignore the abusive and immature people and you should have no trouble striking up a conversation with others if you treat them nicely.
