Ok, real advice: Look at succesful shipping companies in Eve right now - Red Frog and Push both come to mind, google those and do as Shar says. Look at the fees they charge. Now with the greatest of respect to both companies I doubt either claim their pilots get rich quick - more that hauling is something their pilots either (peversely) enjoy, or do in their downtime - something which (like mining for example) doesn't require a whole lot of attention. So a personal shipping company is a fine idea, but as one to amass wealth - well, that may not be the best of ideas. That's not to discourage, but as already stated, you really need to read first, post second.

Patch speculation is the only thing I can recommend doing to make money even if you don't like it because the payoff is so huge compared to the time invested. For everything else, only do it if you enjoy or dont mind doing it because otherwise you will just burn yourself out trying to get rich.

Cigarette packet maths though: If we call Red Frog's fees a flat 400,000isk per jump (to attempt to accomodate the initial 500k pickup fee) then to earn 40 billion isk we're talking about 100,000 (likely freighter) jumps. To do that in a year works out at 273 jumps per day, every single day. All I can say is that I'm glad there are others who have the patience for such work and they deserve every penny they get!

On my hauler character 1M/jump wasn't unreasonable in an industrial. If you're good at it you will do well. And bigger is not always better in a hauler, some of the best money I ever made hauling was with small fast ships (though with sufficient skill you get access to the stealth Transport Ship which is decently big, extremely fast, and with cloaking skills very hard to target.) It's also much less boring than freighter hauling.

If you're just picking up random side jobs every now and then you can't expect much. I run as a hauler in my downtime for 1 company. i make decent isk when I do but it's not a constant income. I'll run courier jobs in highsec every now and then also, although the payouts aren't very good with the lack of cargo space i have. Where i make most of my money in hauling is in the market. I will make 10 jumps back and forth between regions and buy items that are in high demand at a low price and take them jita or another trade hub and put up a sell order. rarely do i just sell items outright. you should think about that unless you have a set contract with corps to haul for them constantly.

All I can say is that I'm glad there are others who have the patience for such work and they deserve every penny they get! well the 40b include tips (some very generous one) and black frog contracts too. but i've done about 80k red frog PAID jump yeah, using multiple freighters at times (up to 5). the difference with red frog vs public contract is the flow of contract. there's an average of 200 contracts per day to choose from, with a minimum rewards of 350k per jumps. there's no way to make that with public contracts or being independant, unless you find someone that will rely on you and only on you to move their stuff.
