Scout and probe. That's about it. Still it's rather dumb to get a ship without knowing how to fly it. _______________

All it took was a couple of skillbooks.
What kind of support skills should I train and are there different paths to take it?

Astrometrics.
You'll need that to operate the probe launchers. (There are two kinds - Recon Probe Launcher is the fast one, for scanning down ships. The other scans for all kinds of things, but has a slow scan time)
Astrometric Pinpointing, Astrometric Triangulation & Signal Acquisition are three very important subskills, to help make the probes work better.
Get used to making BookMarks on the fly, as well. Very handy. |

You quoted this: Quote: Get used to making BookMarks on the fly, as well. Very handy
and asked what it meant, I'm quite sure axiom takes on people who know this stuff.

How would you know how to fly it if you didn't buy it?
Covert ops is good for spying, good for probing, good for courier jobs of small, high-value items. Good for going AFK in enemy systems to make them cry. Best way to practice the probing stuff is by doing ninja salvaging in highsec with a T1 astrometrics frigate.

So what are you supposed to do? Shoot scan probes and bookmark the locations to bring in some sort of salvager where players left their wrecks?
Is that what happned when a couple of times someone warped into my mission and warped back out?

There is a guide to it called Kahega's Ninja Salvaging Guide which is I believe mentioned in a sticky in the Crime & Punishment forum.

You can also use it for other sorts of probing, such as probing down targets in low-sec or 0.0 (recon probes) or exploration (scan probes).
You can find a good exploration guide here, from Eve-Guides.com.

Scan probes are great for probing targets in a deadspace.

Oh, you can probe out missionrunners in missionhubs and salvage their wrecks. You can scout lowsec with no real risk, scout 0.0 with greatly decreased risk.
*** make sure you get a Covert Ops cloak to go along with the covops frig. Not fitting a Covert Ops Cloak on a covops ship is like not fitting strip miners on a hulk.
