Hi,
I don't know how the bounty system works, so please, tell me this is not possible.
Let's say a pirate has a bounty of 10.000.000 on his head. A clone capable of saving his skills costs 3.000.000. The pirate asks a friend to kill him, retrieve the bounty and then they split it.
They just made 7 million ISK. Is it possible ? Beause if it is, then we have a big exploit.

Not only possible, but more than likely has already happened. There have been many topics on this subject.

Didn't know that... How sad, pirates are now being funded by the guys who want them killed.
No wonder why they have so much money.

Yes this is possible AFAIK.
And the exploit is not as big as you may think, because even if you are one of m0o's most talented members, getting a large bounty takes time. Way more time than any other money-making activity actually.

I think you got a point, but if you pay attention to your clone update option, it will tell you how many skill points you have. Usually, a clone good enough to keep them is not that expensive. _______________________________________________

Whilst anything like this is exploitable, It would be a little harder to achieve if CCP brouhgt in some kind of Bounty Hunter License system.
As CONCORD holds all Bounty money it seems very unrealistic that any player with negative security rating could be given money by CONCORD, irrelevent of him hitting the bountied player or not.
So I would like to see the need for a License, issued by CONCORD, in order to collect any bounty. The License would only be issued to players with a positive security rating, and would be invalid or redeemed upon that players security rating goin below 0

By the time you have a 10 mill bounty on your head you will be so rich that 10 mill is small change. Anyway I've actually seen m0o protecting a corpse until the member who died can get back to it specifically so nobody gets the bounty. There's a good bit of pride attached to being in the top ten "most wanted" pirates you know :)

There should be a bounty hunters page where people who collect bounties would be listed, showing the amounts they've collected.
Also, pirates should be trackable, either through a device you use or some other means, such as if a pirate flys through secure space he is trackable for a certain ammount of time.
I play as a pirate and having to directly deal with Bounty Hunters would add some fun.

Sundog, that won't solve the problem.. I've got a positive sec rating, and if someone asked me to kill them for a 50-50 split of the profits (as long as we're talking a lot of money), I'd do it :P ----------------------------- You think Marco Polo said "Damn Mongolians were camping that cave entry into the next valley the entire day, you can't get friggin anywhere in the world with those damn griefer tribes all over the place" ? -Indigo Seqi

Heh. that then gives you the oportunity to keep all the money anyway. I think the pirate player would have to be pretty dumb to ask a complete stranger to do it :)

I totaly agrea with you SunDog. In fact, the license system is soemthing CCP has said would be in game.
From the official FAQ:
"6.2 What effect will security status have?
High security status is a pre-requisite for getting empire licenses. Empire licenses include bounty license, charter license and custom official license. High security status can also affect faction standing (see 6.7). The effects of a low security status will also vary widely, ranging from access restrictions to certain zones, direct attack by an empire authority, confiscation of restricted equipment or having bounties issued on ones head, to name but a few."
And: "Having a bounty collected on one's head upon death will also raise security status. However, there will be measures to prevent friends from killing characters and return bounty payments, and other measures will be available to force payment from offenders."
Obviously the FAQ is totaly outdated... Or it will be more acurate with time... Who knows. I for one sertenly hope CCP implement the stuff they promise in the FAQ. What is the use of it otherwise?
