Whats up with the single capital weapon system for the Phoenix. There are no citadel cruise launchers. What's up with this? --

I just thought that it would be kinda meh for the missile dread users to train cruise 5 for this (especially Nag users), so it could be some kind of Citadel Assault Torpedoes or something? Speed up the normal torps and make em more cruise like, then make the short range ones slower and more damage? Idk. --

Because of what the ship is and what it is designed to do. It is a dread it is supposed to do the max damage possible to large targets like POS's and other capitol class ships. If you give it a wepon that is more like a cruise missile than a torp it will start to be able to more effectivly engage smaller targets than it already is. Also in POS warfare its range isnt that much of an issue, neither is the torp's speed because it will take far more than 1 or 2 vollys(sp?) from the rest of the dreads in the gang to put the tower into reinforced/dead. the ship will have plenty of time to hit with multiple vollys(sp?).
In summation "what's up with this" is that there is no real point to haveing them. If, however, you can come up with a viable point to them please post it. For the M.PIRE! |

Really they need to make Citadels more durable. Their damage is fine against their intended targets but the minute some jerkbag with a few smartbombs sits in between you and the target and starts disco mode your dps drops pretty quickly to nothing. Hell, I think most Phoenix pilots would settle for having the missiles just move really really fast for a very short amount of time, thus pretending to be a hit scan weapon like everyone else.

So you trained Cruise Missile V and just started to realize it hardly has an overall PvP use? __________________________________________________

Lasers are superior to missiles anyway. You don't have to reload and most POS shields won't have EM/Thermal resist. But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

I still think citadel torps should act like exploding mobile smart bombs.
Pew pew - whoosh - krplow!
Who knows if you're lucky your own citadel torps would smart bomb themselves! __________________________________________________ Sup brosef! Destry's Lounge is looking for a few good drunks - contact me in game.

If CCP had released Citadel Cruise Missiles when they released Citadel Torpedoes, given the rleative properties for battleship-class Cruise Missiles, Torpedoes, and Citadel Torpedoes, a Citadel Cruise Missile would have had a base range measured in grids, not kilometers, and would have had explosion properties that let it do significant damage to battleships even though their total DPS output against capital targets would have been lower.
Now that CCP has re-balanced battleship Torpedoes, re-balancing Citadel Torpedoes and adding Citadel Cruise Missiles doesn't seem entirely unreasonable.
However, CCP has far bigger fish to fry than this issue, so I doubt anything will change any time soon. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Yep, they need to nerf ships, not boost them !
P.S. Nerf Nano, stacking penalties for cap rechargers, PDUS and all other modules.
