From a FAQ I'm working on...
Player corporation standings to NPC entities (factions and corporations) are calculated by taking the average standing to that entity of all players within the player corporation, as long as the payer has had a standing change to the entity while a member of the corporation.
Standing change is a gradual affair. You move towards the average at an rate of 25% of the difference between the current standing and the average standings. The formula is as follows:
New standing = Old Standing + ((Average Standing - Old Standing) / 4)
For example, if current standing is 0.0 and the average player's standing is 4.0, after 1st downtime standings raise to 1.0:
New standing = 0 + ((4 - 0) / 4) New Standing = 0 + (4 / 4) New Standing = 0 + 1 New Standing = 1
And after 2nd downtime will be 1.75:
New Standing = 1 + ((4 - 1) / 4) New Standing = 1 + (3 / 4) New Standing = 1 + 0.75 New Standing = 1.75
and so on.
This web page is a handy calculator for working out your standings will change over time.

I think you will find that the first dt will yield more like 43% and then subsequent dt's will continue with 25%.
That calculator was made by a player who is taking a break from eve for a while. He and I discussed his formula a couple of years back and he modified it to reflect the true results. Unfortunately he must have reverted the code to the previous version, possibly via a backup. I contacted him by email, but he has no interest in the website and didn't offer to correct it again.
The table can still be accurately used by just discounting the first figure.
Note: the example below is based on my standing of 9.99 and target corp at 0.0 and no members with any standings.
This applies to faction as well as Npc corp standings.
Day 0: 0 on the day you join the corp Day 1: 2.5 this figure is incorrect Day 2: 4.37 this is the actual standing achieved after the first DT providing a storyline has been completed. Day 3: 5.78* all the following results are accurate, just subtract one day in each case. Day 4: 6.83* Day 5: 7.62* Day 6: 8.21
I transfer my standings to Corporations and have proven this on many occasions. The calculator is spot on apart from that first entry.

I've noticed this too when creating a new corp and running missions to kick start standings. The standing change is effectively a double step (i.e. 2 incremental 25% steps). However, does this only apply when standing are first calculated for a corp, or when a new player joins?

Ah, oh well, never mind.

I have created new corps on behalf of my customers and seen this double increase, also when joining an existing corp with a Customers Ceo in place with no standings.
If the corp has any standings, plus or minus to any faction the first days rise is just 25%.

If you are interested in standings, try Eve-Hq, It is a Eve utility application that is being added to regularly, The latest plug in has a cool way to extract all your standings from the cache and display to 14 decimal places. It also has a delete cache function that bypasses the visibility bug. It only deletes the Machonet folder so doesn't effect any settings. I was able to track my Gallente faction standings precisely after the ingame display hit 9.99 and stayed there for months.
Vessper, the developer will consider any requests for additional plugins.
He is currently working on a Ship fitting Plugin that will be a contender to compete with EFT.

Contralto, thanks for the info. I've completed the corp standings FAQ and posted it over in Science and Industry.

Not sure if mentioned but if someone joins your corp with standings - takes a few days for them to be figured into the average correctly, unless they complete any activity [important/cosmos mission, sell tags at datacenter, FW promotion etc] that gives a faction boost, or penalty [like shooting a ship/struct, declining a mission]. After the first faction boost while in corp, they will be figured in the average correctly each following downtime. -------
