I'm trying to get some up-to-date information on set-ups (small gang pvp) for interceptors and have failed miserably. I'd also like to know if Gallente Interceptors are as viable as the other race's. If not, which would be a fool proof race to go with. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to t2 ships, and I wanted to explore the ships with some speed for my first venture into that area. Anyway, if this kind of information is in a more recent area besides the ship set-up index it would be great if i could be pointed in the right direction. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of discussion about interceptors floating around.

Gallente have top notch inties. Their combat inty is superb and the ares is good at tackling. Setups you have to ask a gallentian :-p ----------------------------------------- [Video] I'm a soldier, so remember the name |

I fly every 'ceptor except the Amarr ones and the Gallente ships end up being my favorite. I'm not going to list exact builds here since they'll be obsolete soonly, but I will give you some general tips on how to fit and fly them.
Ares. It can easily be argued that the Ares is the best pure tackler in the game, but it's DPS is rather pitiful. When flying with a gang, I load my lows with speed mods, have a MWD, Disruptor, and a Cap Recharger in my mids, and a standard launcher and two salvagers up top. Flies forever, flies fast, and it's lack of short range weaponry discourages you from being stupid. Also makes a good fast scout.
Taranis. I fly this in rather the opposite manner as an Ares. I fit it like a mini-Thorax (lots of gank, at least a DC for some semblance of a buffer, MWD, scram, web in the mids), fly it solo, and go hunting in LoSec belts. It's very slow for a 'ceptor, but still fast enough to let you chose your fights and does rather impressive DPS. Some people have great success combining speed mods and rails on a Taranis and flying it as a gang tackler/dogfighter but I personally don't like to fly them that way.
Hope this helps. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Gallente inties are a great place to start in T2, it took me a little while to get to them myself but I definitely wish I'd started there.
The ares does its job well, just like the other tackling-oriented inties, but it doesn't really stick out of the crowd imo.
The ranis on the other hand really stands out among inties with dps and EHP head and shoulders above the rest. It straight up shreads inties, frigates, and destroyers. It can even take on the odd cruiser if the situation is right, though that's probably better done by the longer ranged inties.
Personally, I like mine like this: 3 ions MWD disruptor web od dc mag field stab
If you want a fast intie you can take the ares out but to me the ranis is a blaster boat through and through, so I fly it tank-n-spank.

What Bronson said. Gallente inti's are very effective, a ton of fun and they look cool. ----- http://evenewb.blogspot.com/

After the patch, AB equipped Taranises will be tearing up everything in sight. Very good choice. But I personally think they are some of the ugliest ships in the game. That's why my own personal choice is the Amarr Malediction, which will also become significantly more dangerous after the patch.

Taranis is a great ship all around. You can load it out with blasters and gank shit, or you can slap on some 125mm rails with a cap recharger and speed mods.
But as the above poster said, after the patch, the malediction is going to be extremely dangerous. Will likely become my inty of choice

Not true. Malediction can kite it, mwd-crusader keep outside its range. Lesson learned: Don't theory craft too much. ----------------------------------------- [Video] I'm a soldier, so remember the name |

Um, enjoy getting run down and steam-rolled by MWD-using AFs, cruisers, destroyers, etc.
You really need to be able to pick your fights in an intie, imo.

What's not true? That the Taranis is ugly or that both the Taranis and the Malediciton will become significantly meaner with the upcoming patch?

Thanks, I am definitely looking forward to it. Enjoy trying to "steam-roll" a 20m sig radius target orbiting you at 2km/s with cruiser guns.

Well, for 0.0 you want the MWD setup. For low-sec, you're just fine with a AB one, no bubbles. So you get to pick what fights you'll start more often then not.
With the changes, you'll be able to fit a very mean AB Taranis, and let me assure you, they are nothing trivial to deal with even with a AF, not to mention that said MWD turret cruisers will have a good chance of death to a target which is at the very least matching their speed, and can disable their MWD, and can track their drones, plus has virtually no sig radius.

Guys VJ is right you realize... AF's will be better yes, but not against inties, they will be better against cruisers/bc/bs etc. Of course, it looks kind of like:
1 af to kill cruiser
1-3 to kill a BC
3-5 to kill a BS assuming ppl in eve aren't all dumb (but we know thats not true)

I seem to remember this line... Dunno who said it...
Originally by: some bloke The taranis is a ship for angry men or people who prefer to deal in absolutes. None of that sissy boy "we danced around a bit, shot some ammo then ran away LOL", or "I couldn't break his tank so I left" crap. It goes like this: You fly a Taranis. A fight starts. Someone dies.
