This thread has what purpose? Any good leader in a corporation or alliance (past or present) are open to attacks - they know this, but they still take their time to do their job - so they get my respect. Most good leaders are admired/or hated in such a way that they have a thread about them (which is mainly propaganda) - even those who are against a corporation must, to a certain extent, envy their oppositions CEO/leaders defiance and strength in keeping their ideals going. With reference to other CEOs within EVE in this thread, such as RZR/BoB, this is nothing more than a contest...
...if only it could be kept to the game - EVE-O forums are sadly a way to wage wars by the cowards amongst us. It seems defending yourself against such an attack is a pointless exercise as everyone can have a say without the use of their intelligence or even justification for their response. On that note...I'll back down and play the game I enjoy and leave the forum diplomats to clean up the ever increasing rubbish that is left behind by the forums trolls.

I will preface the following by saying this game is a wonderful creation û no other MMOG comes close in my humble opinion and while it has technical flaws we could all complain about, they are is nothing compared to the flaw that spoils the masterpiece Eve could be.
I rarely get involved in politics and havenÆt for a long time. Until now. I kinda compare p*ssing against a force 10 hurricane to conversing with the insidious pre-pubescent kiddief**kwit vocal minority which permeate these forums and to a degree the game itself (as comments posted after this one will, I am sure, prove more than adequately)
Originally by: Fred0 I've been pretty open about us failing in Delve. RZR has failed many times. We failed to help D2 keep their space, we failed to keep our own space against MC and company. We failed to evict BOB from Delve and there's more like that. I call stuff as I see it and I don't make outrageous claims most of the time.
Then again we've had some pretty good successes aswell. Killing your old alliance being one among many :)
The best part though is that we're still here (as opposed to all the bitter ones that quit or had to start all over) and the important part is not how much butt we've kicked or had our own kicked. It's sticking together and keeping on building the best alliance we can with the resources we have. In EVE as in life. The goal is the journey itself.
/Salutes an old friend of massive integrity, honour and honesty û qualities which, if replicated by others, would make this a great game, rather than what it isà
CCP laud their creation as a ôsand-box style MMOGö like no other. Sadly, it appears that you advertise a sand-box and you are bound attract a lot of those that play in sand-boxes û namely children, with all the behavioural problems that entails. And the cat from next door that likes to cr*p in it. Eve is advertised as a cold, harsh universe where the fittest survive and thrive. I donÆt think anyone has a problem with that. However, the way things are and have been for a long time CCP should advertise it as a cold harsh universe dominated (at least vocally) to a great degree by the aforementioned in paragraph one. As someone who has done the rounds of MMOGÆs I can honestly say that what puts so many people off Eve is not the penalty for death etc that this cold harsh universe delivers (I will concede that the steep learning curve is a downer), but the perception that the server is dominated by immature tw*ts.
Now killing is fun, whether its elves spearing orcs (and no, I have never played WoW and never will) or one alliance kicking the sh1t out of another in Deklein (lag aside û that isnÆt fun in the slightest). What Eve lacks (and is unlikely to ever achieve unless there is a massive change in attitude) is a healthy respect between opponents. There is no problem with dissing and extracting the urine out of each other when it is not done in an infantile manner. ThatÆs fun, although from all appearances way above the ability of most CAOD posters. The satisfaction gained from the acknowledgement of a foe of a fight well fought whether won or lost is one of the great pleasures of online (or any other kind of) gaming. See much of that in Eve? Nope, because it is drowned in a deluge of smack from the kiddief**kwit brigade.
I refer you to the Fred0 extract above. IÆve known Fred for around 10 years and he was one of the first to join CEI after it was formed in May 03 (belated grats on 5 years guys). He and the guys have taken CEI to heights that I couldnÆt even conceive. Fred, is quite prepared to hold his hand up when heÆs ****ed up. HeÆs quite prepared to acknowledge a defeat and give credit where it is due. Which, as someone above stated, takes balls. Unlike the smacktards hiding behind alts, who are testicularly challenged û an affliction also (sadly for them) endured by those who never admit to a defeat irrespective of how major or minor it is. Now, if every (or at least a majority) of players in this game acted the way Fred0 does and ôgrew someö maybe the spew and diatribe that dominate inter corporation discussions (CAOD) might dry up. And ultimately the game might reach maturation instead of what those on the outside see it as right nowàa wonderful sand-box spoiled by misbehaving kids and next doorÆs cat defecating in it.

What about yet again trying a character assassination on a opposing alliance leader? Mynas and Cyvok are just a few examples of many. It just shows how obsessed you are about winning, at all cost that is. Lying, deception, betraying and backstabbing doesn't help with building lasting relationships. That's the axiom which will always continue to hunt you until you fold.

Originally by: Butter Dog Can someone who can be bothered dig up some quotes from Fred0 from the time he ran away from Delve? You know the ones - about how their work with BoB was complete, all objectives accomplished, and how BoB were no longer a threat etc?
Originally by: Fred0
So what if we didn't manage to take NOL at the first try? We'll try again, again, again.
Check no. doesn't say we've won over BOB and our mission is complete, it did however very accurately reflect what me and other leaders were promising eachother at the time.
Originally by: Fred0
We have the same situation as 7 months ago. Except BOB has lost 4-5 regions since that time. Midsummer 2008 for true celebrations regarding the sov map anyone?
Check no. doesn't say we've won over BOB and our mission is complete, I've also been exposed as not able to see into the future.
Originally by: Fred0
We'll win this war any way we can and we'll throw everything incl. the kitchen sink at it. Also I have no doubts BOB is gonna be bragging about their mad skills from npc stations in one years time.
Doesn't say we've won over BOB and our mission is complete
Originally by: Fred0

Doesn't say we've won over BOB and our mission is complete. This was said as the assault on Delve began and we had taken QY6 IIRC. It was very true at that time. Tables have turned since then.
Originally by: Fred0
Sometimes you have to take risks to win, something BOB has forgotten about it seems.
Hardly even a relevant quote.
Originally by: Fred0
BoB is afraid that if you commit caps they'll be ****d. There's no two ways about that. It's a fact and it's worth much more than any station system we've taken.
This was also very true at the time. They hid their caps for quite some time because our capblob was so much larger than theirs.
Originally by: Fred0
You're reasonably confined even if that last sov4 const sucks. Give it another year and goons will do you on their own, their industrial wheels are already spinning much quicker than yours
The longer this takes, the more enjoyment we'll get from it.
The jury is still out on this one even if the quote is looking abit silly right now considering BOB's managed to retake quite abit of their space. If they'd still be contained in Delve only I'd stand by it. :)
The above has been packed in ice for shipment to the Thread Museum in Greenland.
What intrigued me were the comments in paragraph three of the first subsection following the second rebuttal. While many might disagree on the level of agreement, who could not help but wonder.
All in all, I would like to say the world does look better with rose tinted glasses, even if they are peeking from behind curtains like a paranoid crack head.

I've always believed that the NC attacking our stations in Branch to 'remove the nuisance of INSRG' would be horribly counter-productive for them. Perhaps they were hoping we would failure cascade when we lost them, I'm not sure. But we're stronger now than we ever have been, not a single corp has left, fresh and talented blood has joined. I'm pretty sure the average NC member will regret putting us in a position where we have nothing to lose. Time will tell if I'm right or not.
Originally by: Butter Dog
Morale in INSRG is sky high at the moment. Your forum spys should be able to confirm that, maybe cut and paste some of it here with your 'disaffected INSRG member' alt
Originally by: Butter Dog
We didnt even intend to take the bloody outposts in the first place
Originally by: Butter Dog
If you don't think they're enjoying this, if you think they won't last a very long time, well you are in for a nasty shock.
Originally by: Butter Dog
That we now have all these fights on our doorstep is wonderful, when we're not fighting we only end up in-fighting, but when we are fighting we have a wonderful cohesion, so we need this attention to keep us motivated and playing the game
Originally by: Butter Dog
Against a massively numerically superior opponent and with limited engagement opportunities, it think they are doing exceptionally well. My char is soon being transferred to a corpmate, but I'm very glad my last playing days in EVE were with INSRG. Great alliance. Great leadership. And a refreshing perspective on the game, too, being anti NAP Blob as they are.
Originally by: Jotram
As many of you know isnurg was robbed of around 90 bill assets this week, including a set of Mom components id just like to issue the following:
the story itself was i was a leader within insurgency for over 6 months
Originally by: Butter Dog
I've heard talk of 'failure cascade' but that doesnt really apply to us. Yes, we're burnt out, who wouldn't be with what we have arrayed against us. But not a single corp has left. Member numbers have been 100% stable. Whenever there is a reasonable chance of fighting we do so. We had 330 online this evening and 230 in fleet. Sure, NC had a lot more, with their member numbers they surely will without breaking a sweat. For INSRG though, thats no failure cascade :)
Originally by: Butter Dog
Well, its no secret that my corp has decided to leave...
Originally by: Dacovale
Dear all,
Insurgency is disbanding. Whether the killer blow lands today or tomorrow is largely irrelevent. We will exist no more as an alliance by the end of this week.

I thought this thread was going to be about the pearl necklace of wisdom Fred0 gave me. Instead it's just lots of stupid shit he's said, disappointing.
I honestly think it's a clever reverse-format ploy to get us to trust him by appearing as if he couldn't tell a lie or spin a fact without looking like a transparent fool. In turn we all love and trust the bumbling old bozo, like our own little POTUS.
