I have read many posts regarding the end to guerilla warefare due to the recent speed rebalance. A frequent exclamtion can be summarized as "OMG eleventy111 my Nano-Hac cannot indefinately hold out against a large blob". This is not what Guerilla warefare is about though.
This is from memory so feel free to correct the details but I believe Guerilla Warefare originated in spain when napolean set his brother up as ruler. The locals then enganged in Little Wars against this large enemy. Striking convoys quickly and fleeing when the enemy rallied. Whenever the peaseants faught traditionally they were massacared.
This is what Guerilla warefare is about. A HAC gang can still engage a larger group but must disengage once they inflict what damage they can, while the larger ships are taking time to lock. Guerilla Warfare is strike fast and disengage. Useing small ships to focus fire on a single large target and then fleeing into the wilderness of safespots. Guerilla Warfare is about attrition not prononged nano-fights. Flame On Your signature is too large. Please resize it to a maximum of 400 x 120 with the file size not exceeding 24000 bytes. The real essence of guerilla warfare is fighting smart, hitting weak and vulnerable locations, striking at an enemies backfield and then 'fading away', living off the land or with the local populace.
Not that this has much real relation with a game. It's just a term. I think it's still a viable tactic in EvE. I just think that people get confused when they think of small-group fighting. No, your not David vs. Goliath. Most units won't go up against a superior force.
Play smart, pop that lone battleship that's left behind after the warp. Strike the weak target deep in enemy territory, then use logouts, docking or just jumping to another system in order to 'fade'.
That's just simple tactics. You have a zerg, and you have a unit. If you've ever run with a unit, you know exactly what I mean.

I agree. However it is viable take on a much larger fleet when the organization of the enemy is disrupted. It isnt always the size of the fleet but as you said the tactics used. Let them nerf EVE into stone age until there will be nothing left except sticks and stones. Then, The Gorillean Warfare Age will come.

back in the day before all this nanoidiocy (and before the HP buff, range nerf, etc), I was invited in a frig-only roam.
I took out my then-pitiful punisher and fitted her with a MWD. We aimed at their mining ops, and any ratters who werent watching local.
Had so much fun, so did the others (in their shiny T2 interceptors), we did it again, and again.
Ended up ****ing off the resident alliance, we ended up having a wardec on our hands, which was strange, considering they were willing to cut their already-fragile reliance upon empire for manufacturing just to get back at us. So we treated them to the same thing, only this time we aimed directly at their empire operations.
Guerrilla warfare at it's finest.
Eventually they came prepared with destroyers and basically ripped us apart at range. Cue stationcamping with anti-frigate ships, led the older players to field bigger ships leaving me out of the loop.
still, it was good. -
