Edited by: Xavier Cardde on 01/06/2004 06:27:37 Alright the pupose of this thread is to discuss for one that the Nerf is a bad idea (figures huh?) and two to adapt to the Nerf if it must be.
we know with missiles geting removed from frigates (thinking not such a bad idea at this point) is going to remove their potential quite a bit... on top of that it will be twice as easy to now lock intercepors making them easy targets in general.... with players killing Inties in Bestowers these days (if prepared) is that such a good idea to make it even worse for us? Im really against the Sig-crazy CCP...MWD sure we can use ABs fine but to lose half of our protection basically? Sabe me Inty!
Im a Crusador pilot by nature at this point favoring the blistering damage potential of the boat, but even then i will need to re-tool my set-up dramitcally to the new changes... Suggestions in this department?
Right now ive stuck with a MWD and 7.5 warp... should i lose the warp in favor of a Webber or even something else? and as for the MWD shoudl I even try the new ABs or use it for something else?
I really wanna keep flying my Inty

it needs the missiles removing aint arguing about that.
but i think they should remain just as fast, much as i hate the bleeders when they are flying around my ship. Its very name suggests it should be fast, so that it can zip up to targets and warp jam or web them.
i dont fly one either before anyone says im biased.

It's not nerfing; it's balancing.
Have you been on Chaos to check 'em out?

So after the patch, exactly how would an interceptor be used then ?

As a long-time Scorpion pilot I've become used to hearing one phrase:
Adapt or die.
I think this is the case with Interceptors; you had it TOO good at the beginning but now that CCP have taken a look at them they've changed them to be more balanced.
You are complaining that Bestowers can kill Inty's "if prepared"?
Anyone can kill anything "if they are prepared", y'know.
The only problem is that not all the changes are coming at once so, for a while, interceptors are going to feel the bite:
They'll be easier to hit with heavy drones/missiles because their tracking/agility hasn't been changed yet. They'll be a bit easier to lock BUT it will still be hard to track you with large guns. I don't know how the "MWD-increases-sig. radius" change will affect the tracking of a missile if you have the mwd on then off during its flight time though.
Once the tracking of drones/agility of missiles is fixed though you should be ok - frigates have been able to run mwd's constantly without penalty for too long and that's why your sig. radius goes up when you use one. It's the same for all other class of ship though
Frigates will be tacklers/stoppers in future which is what they were best at anyway.

Adapting to the MWD sig change is rather easy, actually -- I've seen a rather careful little Taranis config that fits a 10mn afterburner instead of a 1mn mwd; it's not as much of a speed boost, but it's still handy and I believe it'll make the inty an utter pain to hit with heavier weapons.

Even though I've molded myself into an all-out frigate pilot; agreed with Joshua Calvert. Things are too easy as it is now and needs balancing.

All you need to do is factor is the bonus 50% of what it is now to understand what it will be like.... and I dont like the sounds of that =/
In a combat based Inty your job is combat as it should be.... making Interceptors 2nd fiddle scramblers or 3rd rate Covert Ops frigates isnt what they are meant for... its intercepting and laying down a combat presence.

Well, why is everyone focused on interceptors as damage dealers, when they REALY are for ganking friggs and industrials ASWELL interCEPTING big-slow ships like cruisers/BS.
Sure the drone and missile changes that never came (soon?) it will be a pain, but it will still be safer in a sence, no more lucky hits...
