I have got a nightmarre since years and i love this ship. The last changes with rev was great for damage but i loved to tank armor before. I have some skills in shield, enough to fit anything i want on but i Fly amarr and i have no really high knowledges about shield defence.
What you will Fit for this ship ? (Missioning pve) .. and why not pvp..

4x T2 Tachyons, AN Multi & Xray Drone Link Augmentor Tractor Beam
T2 XL Booster T2 Boost Amp T2 Cap Booster 4x Rat Specific Hardeners
3x Heatsinks (AN or TS, w/e) T2 Tracking Enhancer or T2 CFC T2 DCU
2x T1 CCC 1x T2 CCC
I like the cap booster over using 2 lows & 1 mid for cap to run the shield booster. With all the hardeners on and shooting multi you're at positive cap gain at about 50% cap, (I have cap implants but I think it's stable even without them) and you can pulse the booster as needed, (which you almost never need to do as fast as you kill things) and if you mess up and over-aggro, you can permarun as long as you have 800s. Optimal is ~55-60km depending on your skills and if you use the tracking enhancer with multi at normal mission ranges. It's a wonderful mission ship, best gankship for Amarr missions, and a great stand-in for a low SP Paladin.

4 TS/AN Tachyons with apropriate crystals, if you can afford the ship you know wich ones 2 Tracktors
1 XL-II 3 Apropriate active hardners 3 Amarr navy/True Sansha/II Cap rechargers
3 Amarr navy/II Heatsinks 2 PDU/Fluxcoils
3 CCC's
Pimp where needed, i'd do as above poster and get a pair of t2 CCC's since it's less likely to attract gankers

The Nightmare is very slow and has to fly away from things to use its guns at maximum efficiency, (even with your 2 tracking enhancers) thus it makes a very poor salvager. You're also filling your cargohold with cap booster charges so you have no room to loot, so you need to come back anyway to do that. You're better off using either a drone link augmentor to get your Hammer 2s out to the same range as your guns, or a NOS to stick on a close-orbiting BS in those missions where things spawn very close. (In missions where everything starts out @ 50k+ a NOS is a waste because if you're doing it right, nothing makes it to 25km).
Confused about the LSE 2... what's the point? In situations where you don't need to run your booster at all it's unessesary, and in situations where you need to run the booster you'd be much better off with a boost amp. Are you flying this with a set of crystals? That's the only situation I'd see you not needing a boost amp, and even then you'd probably want to use a tracking computer so you could put a DCU and CFC in your lows instead of the enhancers.
