I saw this EVEMon program on the internet and it seems like it could be very usefull. Does anyone else use it? Is it save? It does give the program acces to my account so perhaps also the creator...so perhaps its not really that save?
I hope someone can tell me about this program.
Here is the link to the program: http://games.softpedia.com/get/Tools/EVEMon.shtml

It is safe, just personally never understood why i should use it. I understand when you got multiple accounts, but not when you only got one.

No, do not ever use EveMon.
EVE is a cold, hard, unforgiving place full of challenges and danger. Relying on any kind of assistance whatsoever is cheating and goes against the very essence of what the game means.
Also: you should turn off your speakers and monitor while playing Eve. Or else the carebears win! //// ---------=== []= ---------=== \\\\ Rifter(RedBad)

That could be applied to a human, or even eve itself.

Edited by: Meiyang Lee on 06/08/2008 19:05:08 SoftPedia are generally trustworthy when it comes to the software they post for download, so it could well be a safe download. But the official link is always a little bit more secure.
As for reasons to download EVEmon, simple, you don't need to calculate in your head when a skill will finish, EVEmon will do that for you (really useful when training longer skills) also it does all that out of game, meaning you don't need to start the client to check up on a skill's completion time. Note, you can't change skills out of game, you'll need to log in for that. It also allows you to plan out skill schedules (you'll need to manually change skills, but it's a good way to estimate the time it'll take you to get to something). All in all a lovely program and very useful.

It's kind of handy, even if you only have one character. I'll use it occasionally to plan skill training out, since it can say "oh you want to be in this ship? here's a training plan taking everything into account".

bingo - whenever i decide to go for a new class of ship i look it up on EVE mon and check out the battleclinic builds - it means that when i finally get into the ship, i'm actually ready to use it
and while i agree there's no NEED to use EVE mon, i get a kick of out looking at different training plans for different goals and seeing how long it'll take me to get where i want to go in a variety of directions
but, each to their own, i guess

Well, it doesn't take everything into account. It'll tell you what you need to fly the ship, or use a particular module, but not the supporting skills to fly/use it well. However, those can be easily added to the plan.
As for why you'd use it with only one character? How about these:
* It suggests learning skills that will make your overall training plan shorter, including the learning skills themselves.
* It highlights skills in the plan that will complete during downtime, or during some other schedule that you can add to it's calendar (I have one for work) -- making it easy to shift training around between skills so there's less dead time.
* It can notify you that a skill has completed training when you're not logged in -- nice reminder.
* It can show you how much faster your skill plan will be complete with a set of +4 implants instead of +3's.
I promise nothingÖ. --CCP Prism X |

Yep, I know, that was made in context with the rest of the sentence when I speak of a particular SHIP, not necessarily play style or role :D
But yes I agree with the rest of your post about the predictive stuff, say with better implants and recommended learning skills. Pretty sweet overall, even if you only have a single account.
Plus for fun you can say "how long WILL it take me to fly a titan?" then pick your jaw up off the floor and go back to training up command ships or interceptors. :D
