It came to my attention that your ship is losing it's insurance contract if it is stored in carrier or in a mothership.
What happened: A corpmate had insured a couple of BS and had given them to the transfer carrier and had it moved to the front. None of the battleships were repackaged as they were fitted and rigged. He ninjad himself to 0.0 and changed to the BS, ready to fight for the right, but the brown material hit the fan: The insured status on all ships were lost.
I do not want to go details about the petition. 100mill+ is down the toilet.
The basic functionality of the carriers and the motherships are seriously flawed.
I have checked another scenario: 1) insure your ship 2) put it on contract 3) cancel the contract 4) check your ship's insurance => insurance is lost.
Can someone also confirm that this is also true if you store your ship in a corphangar in a station or at a POS the insurance is also removed?
I remember it was working fine a year or more ago, but not today. I'm eagerly awaiting to see your response.

Can't remember if the last scenario is true or not as i haven't lived in a pos for a while, but the first 2 are definitely true, and undocumented as far as i have been able to tell. Very frustrating to lose the insurance, and not everyone has access to an outpost to insure ships that are jumped down from empire.
A corpmate of mine insured something like 5 ships, bs's and bc's all, had them jumped out to 0.0, and was rather shocked to find that there was indeed no insurance. That's a lot of isk down the tubes.
And yeah, it happened to me once as well with a bs. Sucks.
Thanks for the Maulus BPO nerf! :D |

if you personally insure something and give it to another pilot you loose the insurance
if you corp insure it - via the corp hangers then it sticks when transfered via corp members

I'm sorry RaTTuS, but this is not a valid statement. If you use the trade window to give and after that to get your ship back the insured status is not lost.

Actually RaTTuS might be right because I could have sworn I did something like this where the ship was transferred back and forth using the corp hangers and not the trade window and it retained insurance.
This does need to be tested and a GM give us a clear cut answer. I've done this a couple times and had a carrier bring a ship from empire to 0.0 just to find out I lost 40+ mil in newly purchased insurance.

I'm sorry, I have understood what RaTTuS said in a different context, I might have understood incorrectly.
As per my reading, RaTTuS gave us the feedback to use the corp insurance facility in order to keep the insured status. If for any reason, someone else has your personal insured ship, you loose the insurance contract.
I would reply to that statement, if you jump out of your ship and someone enters it, you keep the contract. This BUG is with the carriers, motherships and with the contract system.

I fully agree with you Jonas. Please allow me to copy here the Insurance terms:
The selected item will be insured while in your possession for the duration of the contract. Repackaging the item will void the contract. The contract will be considered void if the item or ship is destroyed while being in the possession of somebody else. Do you accept the above terms and still want to insure the selected item?
As per the above terms and conditions CCP HAVE TO GIVE BACK everyone's ISK if the insurance contract is voided until this bug is fixed or with great embarrassment the QA department has to confirm that they missed this bug and it was not fixed for more than a year or so and change the Text shown when a new insurance contract is created to inform the players. I'm open for any other solutions, but silence.
Thank you for reading through these lines and have a great day.

I seem to recall that a year or so ago you could trade a ship and the insurance would stay valid, until it was destroyed. If in the possession of someone other than the principal on the insurance account the insurance was not paid.
Since then it's changed, and a nice and well nifty dialogue box comes up when you select 'insure'. I'm 90% certain that it goes into great detail about how insurance only applies while a ship is in your possession, but I am 100% too lazy to verify that now.

In my previous post I have just copied in the insurance pop-up window's text information. It's clearly NOT stating the original issue as a exemption to insurance payout.
I will continue to bring this issue in front of everyone's attention. Although a representative's or a GM's response would be greatly appreciated.

Up until a month or two ago there was a bug in the insurance system that meant if you 'took ownership' of a ship (ok, so it was stolen while gate camping) that was insured by the original owner, you couldn't insure it yourself as you were told that an insurance contract already existed. The only way around this was to repackage the ship and reassemble to clear the insurance (and lose any rigs). This was fixed in a patch, so maybe your problem occurred after that?
I am pretty sure I had ships transported before that time in carriers without losing insurance, but not done it since the change.
