Edited by: Astria Tiphareth on 07/08/2008 16:51:08 I recently got around to updating to these drivers, and have been having no end of trouble since then. I've had EVE crashing the moment I run it, crashing mid-game (changing systems seems a particular time for it), and blue-screening. The blue-screen is definitely Nvidia's drivers, both from the module name and Windows Error Reporting saying so. I've also had it just hang or even crash if I'm alt-tabbed away doing something else.
Sometimes EVE seems quite stable and runs for ages, other times it will crash and crash and crash. There's no apparent temperature issue, in that both occasions the temps are around the same.
Worse, I rolled back to earlier drivers (169.21) and nothing improved, which does not inspire me with confidence at the quality of uninstall (I followed their instructions to the letter and even used Driver Cleaner Pro to try and make sure).
My card is a 7800 GTX 256MB.
Rest of PC: Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.21Ghz 2GB RAM XP Service Pack 3 Auzentech Prelude X-Fi Sound card. EVE is premium graphics client.
Is anyone able to confirm a set of drivers working for them, preferably with this card? As far as I've been able to recall, the driver change is the only change I made. I uninstalled EVE and wiped the cache just to make sure, and that didn't improve matters. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation or alliance, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... |

I am also using these drivers and actually noticed that problems such as you describe (no bsod's for me, but random crashes once in a while, FPS issues mostly) started happening since they issued the first hot-patch a while ago - it wasn't with these drivers. I upgraded to these drivers after already experiencing problems such as these, which makes me think that the problems stem from EVE and not the nVidia drivers (though it could very well be a mix of the two causing problems together).

Are you running the 32 or 64bits driver version? _____________________________________

Good point, I forgot to mention that, it's the 32-bit XP. I'll update the OP.

I did a little more digging and discovered that the other thing I 'recently' updated (about a month ago) were my sound card drivers. The Auzentech Prelude is basically a repackaged Creative Xi-fi, and I've heard rumours that Nvidia later drivers and Creative later drivers aren't playing nice together. It does however seem specific to EVE in my case, I've no issues with crashes in other games. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation or alliance, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties... |

I have an Xi-Fi with updated drivers too... _____________________________________

64bit here, and I use onboard sound (I've had bad driver issues with SB cards before, so I don't use them any more) and have no real sound issues afaik.

Well, the Creative theory is out in my case, Realtec onboard audio.
Vid card: 9800 GTX with version 177.79.
Here's the fun part. I'm running Win XP 32 bit and was running on the older driver version 174.74. It ran fine, except a few problems with my FPS slowly degrading and one instance of texture swapping. I have screenshots of that if anyone is interested..
For a month or so it's been running stably, no random crashes at all, just errant twitches in the graphics here and there. Tonight I log on, try to run a mission and any time that the NPC's target me, I'm greeted with a BSOD.
It appears to only be with the NPC targeting, however I've not really done any testing with it.
Same thing, random BSOD only in EVE. I have no idea what made it start crashing like this, before today the client was running just fine. ----- Knowledge is NOT power, knowledge is like coal. EXACT same problem(i think). I got the same drivers on my 8800GT. Eve will be fine one day and wont run for 30 minutes the next. Complete system freeze (no error messages/data dumps). All i can do is hit the reset button.
I've already eliminated temperature issues and hardware damage.
Running Vista 32bit Servicepack 1 4 GB Ram AMD phenom 9850 quad core (2.5Ghz) onboard sound all clients run premium
Note: seems to crash faster with 2 accounts running, but that might just be my imagination.

Same drivers as the op (well, x64 version) but same bloody blue screens :(
On the plus side i haven't crashed since the patch, on the negative side if i use a Stargate my fleet stabber vanishes now -------------------------
