Some ships have the standard orange trail, and some have the blue one. What is the deciding factor in this?

Dunno, but other player ships that is the same type of ship as yours have blue tails if your's is orange. I get a blue one if someone was using my ship, just relog or jump to another system.

actually I think it's ship/race type... My ship has always had a Blue engine trail (I assume this is what your talking about?)... Never once has it been any other color.
Also most other players that I see with the same race of ship have the same color as me... Kinda makes sense if you look at the various things you need for manufacturing some ships...
Gallente using ion I think... Which is blue... I forget what the others are... but they make sense for the color I see from them.

Just a guess...
But I thought others were all blue while yours is orange.
You can be side by side with a buddy in the same class of ship...his will be blue...yours will be orange.
I think some shuttles are exceptions to this.
And has anyone noticed...the Amarr shuttle is the only ship in the game with actual moving parts? Or are there others?

The only ship that never changes color that i've seen is Thorax..so I would assume it's a race-thing partially..
I had blue on my Mammoth once..i had ejected and flown around in pod..then boarded and had blue until i jumped. It was the same next time i tred..but only until i jumped..looked pretty though
