I took a convoy of 5 ships in sarum prime(1.0) just a couple of days ago. I was at 153km to 139km and got no lock from centries.
Your results may vary.

if you want to go do some convoys give me a shout in-game and i'll come along and give you a hand, there are loads of neat little tricks you can use to make it quicker.

Edited by: jeNK on 02/06/2004 15:14:08 I've wanted to do this aswell, but everytime I find a convoy it is just stuck in a station (it has undocked, then turned and stuck to the station like velcro)

BTW; Ello V2 :p

give me a shout in game and we'll hook up, bring a mwd capable kessie and some cruise missiles (sig amp might be needed too) :D oh and a hauler with a secure tin in.

I'm still quite new to the game (about a month and a bit) and so I have only 1 of the things you mentioned on that list (indy) :p
Will probably talk to you ingame anyway for any tips (like where to find them outside of a sentry guns wrath), if you don't mind :)

If you attack an npc indy in anything above 0.4 don't you just get insta wtf ganked by concord?
Computer games don't affect children. If PacMan had affected us as kids then we'd all be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music. |

As far as I know, if you are not within range of a Sentry, you will be fine. (Unless you get wtfpwned by the convoy itself )

Concord don't (for some reason) get involved with corporations that are NPC controlled!
Things to watch for, any NPC controlled ship that see's you ripping the convoy a new botty will help defend it. Sentry guns get a little trigger happy, so don't attack a convoy then dock and think thats the end of it.

2.5k lrg ammo is about the best I've seen since they nerfed the drops a bit.

If I'm not mistaken, you can still cargoscan the convoys.
If you're going convoy hunting that's probably your best bet. --------------------

I thought you had to be 150-175k from the nearest sentry gun.
Has this changed as the above thread shows about 130k works without a sentry gun attacking.
I have followed convoys out waiting until they get close to 140k away, and they just disappear...lol
Used to do a lot of convoy attacking, but now 150k they disappear before getting out of sentry range...

I always used a cargo scanner for convoys, save wasting time for loot that isn't worth hauling to a staion.

Using cruise to take out convoys will probably cost you more than you make.

Now it costs more to kill and haul the convoy than its worth...but when super conductors sold for 50-100k a pop...those were the days :)

I still sell my super conductors for 100-200k a piece.

i may have stumbled onto something last night doing convoy raids. i was in amarr space and i hit a convoy that was caldari ships, i blew up all 5 and noticed on my scanner i was 61km from the sentrys. the sentrys ignored me completely, seems that they will only defend convoys of the same race as the space they are placed in. i was even able to pick up the can and dock at the same station without waiting. _______________________________________________

Shiakarma, give me a shout ingame and i'll take you through an attack, i done 3 convoys last night in a caracal i got crap loot but i can build it up and sell it bulk when the time arises. top tip tho.
follow they're path out when you pass em scan em continue on that path until yer 150k's from your closest sent gun. the nearest the haulers get to that 150k point is 40-50k's easily enough for a L turret or missiles and you'll only be able to target em from about 50 odd (unless you have a sensor booster with longrangetargetting skill) bookmark the camping point you have, target em and open fire.
now what i've found is that they dont drop cargo cans each its a combined loot drop (well the ones i've done have). bookmark the loot drop and warp out of system. warp back in (in a hauler whatever) and warp to the loot bookmark. pickup the loot and go on your merry way, next time your in that system you can warp to your camp point and be in position.
some systems you'll see people have deployed a secure container to put the loot in, this is a kind of harvesting system and can be used as well.
