I think this is the best example of how to edit and filter in-out, correspond music with ''film''. Excellent work there. Absolutely awesome. Fav scenes/songs accompaning was the buzzard and eagle at start, and the osprey vs the frigs
Very nice job there.. Totally expecting more.

It was driving me crazy, so I did some poking.
I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uywIBzEfwT4 which apparently has the same lyrics.
Then I found this archived thread http://forums.di.fm/archive/index.php/t-125712.html
Which then lead me to this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Gq8fYZkiJk
WHICH IS IT! OMFG!
EDIT: NOOOOOO! I just relistened, and it isn't the same :(
Well that's a lot closer anyway. The actual song is probably a remix; it was part of a Di.FM Progressive set called Oslo Nights, but they never gave a tracklisting at the end of it.

I don't know if it's on purpose or not, but there's some visible interlaced effect at the encoding, that results the horizontal lines when things are moving quick, you don't need to de-interlace when the source is Fraps (as opposed to let's say DV source) or maybe it's wanted, if yes then ignore me, if it was not wanted, then turn off the desinterlacing option :] _______________ Olivier C., providing fleet support since 1902 - IAC's french wing, unique member - My Eve videos |

Very, very different from the usual eve video, refreshing and entertaining variation on an old theme. I'd watch another.

Could you share the date for the set? Apparently there is more than one. If I can find the thread it's from, I'm gonna post. Sorry if I appear rabid.

Knock yourself out. I even went to their website and emailed them about it, but the only kind of response I got was newsletters *shrugs*

Ah I thought that was just something H.264 did It's my first time encoding to that format so I probably left some options on that I didn't need (I was using StaxRip for the encoding)

ah glad I could help, didn't want to sounds like a teacher lol, sometime it's a wanted artistic effect ^^
For the technical part, most of the video editing softwares (let's say Adode Premiere s sample) got the de-interlace option turn on by default because they kinda expect an interlaced source, from a digital camera (DV), to make it simple the 1st picture display lines 1, 3, 5 etc, and the next picture the lines 2, 4, 6, etc, and so on. An AVI from Fraps is not interlaced, it's just full images stacked, so if the deinterlacing option is kept enabled when encoding with fraps source, we get this reversed effect. When the images are not moving too fast it's invisible because there's not enough differences between 2 frames to spot the lines. _______________ Olivier C., providing fleet support since 1902 - IAC's french wing, unique member - My Eve videos |

Editing is awsome, looses some focus for the actual fight but very entertaining to watch. I would say this is the style a advertising Vid for EvE online should look. Diffent to Day of Darkness and EvE never fades because it catches some of the gamplay while mix it up with awsome effects make it entertaining to watch.
Music was also preaty suited for the Vid.
Enjoyed watching it.

A bit too long in my opinion. It doesnt happen a lot on the screen but flashy camera zooms. Ratting Dominix in a belt... Meh.
Next time use those effects in a real vid and it might be good.

*shrugs* vid isn't for e-peen stroking so there's one or two ganks aswell as numerous fights; I tried to put all sorts of stuff in this vid and obviously it isn't all going to be to everyone's taste. Some people don't care for flashy editing and that's understandable - Sorry it's not your thing

Watching this video made me feel sick.
I wanted to like it, I really did, however when it boils down to it the video is little more than a few boring fights that you can't see because it keeps zooming in on the GUI and flashing at you.
Kudos on trying something new but I don't feel it worked this time. I guess maybe I'm not artsy fartsy enough.

Some of the music wasn't to my taste so I really tried disliking it,especially since the editing and flashing really isn't up to my tastes either.
I failed. Somehow it all came together into an enjoyable and good vid where things mesh nicely. I ended up liking it and it'll go into the Eve vid folder for further consumption. Great work.

The first half of the video seemed like you were trying to achieve something half-way between the eye-candy videos and the videos showing fights in detail. The editing was good and it looked nice enough, but it was hard to tell what was actually going on in the fights so you lost any sense of the excitement.
Things picked up once you brought out the Drake, there was some nice fights there. I thought the best one was the gang fight in L4X, as you made it clear what ships were involved on each side and still managed to fit in some stylish editing.

Well for the first few fights the video shows you how the targets were caught. You might say the targets were ganked, but the skill was in the hunt, not the actual kill.
Seeing that Eagle get bumped out of alignment and pointed put a smile on my face. O-Syn are good at finding and killing people that way. |

My point was that this is lost in the editing, at least for me it was. I look at the video again now and I can see that Eagle was being bumped out of alignment, but when I was watching it all I saw was a close up of an Eagle.
I don't find footage of tacklers or nanoships particularly interesting, either. But that's more subjective. |

Mm, I tried to 'illustrate' as such things like that as opposed to plastering the entire video with text popups saying like, "LOOK THIS IS ME > LOOK HE IS ALIGNED OMG AND I'M BUMPING!! " as, for me, that ruins a lot of the feel of movies like this.
Obviously not everyone caught on... |

You don't need lots of text to see what's going on, but the trouble with Eve is that the 3D graphics aren't actually very important to the gameplay, and by zooming right in you lose the context of the UI and icons in space that show what's really happening. The one place where text really is needed, apart from giving background info if you need to, is in gang fights. As the most common overview setups don't show friendly ships, it's very difficult to see what's involved in the fight just from the graphics. |
