I had an idea that struck me at worką. Why donĘt you guys develop an API that will allow Open Source developers a way to make a chat client that will allow people to communicate from outside of the game to inside the gameą. You know how many times I wish I had a SMS pop up on my cell phone to tell me that ōa defenseless capital ship is in system and they need DPS!!??ö there is so many pluses to this idea its unbelievableą. Let me know what you people think! -++ |

i think that trying to connect EVE, EFT, MSN and your mobile phone service provider is a bloody stupid idea. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

ThatĘs equivalent as saying to Alexander Graham Bell that he did not need to invent the Telephoneąletters were just good enough

To fix that, I suggest that EVE online do what they did for GTC trading and have it as a service that is regulated trough CCP.. -++ |

The beauty of this is that ItĘs a service, if you donĘt like the service donĘt sign up. If you donĘt want it any more, you can always delete your informationą I mean, while registering for the game wouldnĘt you provide your cell phone number? Hell personally, I would think that CCP would use the info to do what some internet retailers do and call you to verify your informationą also I see no difference from this idea and that of a ringtone service that everyone signs up forą Hell I would think that the ring tone companies are shadier than CCP!!! -++ |

I am all for this idea, and see many, many good uses for it... especially if they went as far as to include your skill training as a widget within the chatting program, and possibly considering extending the market out of game, too...
Sadly, the vast majority of people that troll this particular portion of the forums are trolls who want to be contrary with everything they see by default.
CCP could actually get on here and say, "Everyone gets a free 2 million skillpoints!" and tons, and tons of people would be up in arms about something they got for free...
Only here... god the trolls... actually WORSE than the DDO community, and I thought that was impossible (by comparison, the DAOC community was pretty nice) Praleon CEO Judgement Klan Corporation

Not too bright are we?
Cause you can't send a regular SMS or use any other means to communicate outside of EVE to convey the same message.

you miss the point. they are not what one might call compatible systems. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |
