The fact that you've logged in to post probably already got ya... they probably have password crackers running on your packets right now :)

seeing as defcon is mostly attended by kiddies and sellouts, I wouldn't be too worried

Don't diss the DEFCON. The badges alone are worth it.
I'm not sure about encryption. If I were you, I'd connect to another computer via SSH tunnels/VNC/what have you and do it that way, if you have a desktop sitting at home that you leave on. It wouldn't be pretty, but you could at least skill up. --- Oh hai. |

Your at DevCon. A place where they showed how a hacked iPhone can scan for wireless access points to see if they are secure or not.
Look for an Ethernet connection to connect or log in now and when you get back to your hotel room or a more secure spot change your passwords.

Use a packet sniffer to find out.
Probably easiest with a dev answer though.

You mean the one that you are broadcasting in plain text everytime you view any page on the forums.
I wouldn't worry about your game sesssion traffic being intercepted as CCP already needs to ensure that is secure for transmission over the internet in general.
As long as you are using your own computer you should be fine. If you are using someone elses that is where the trouble begins.

i'd just wait until you were at a more secure place. the amount of skill you'd lose by not logging in compared to losing your account to a bored hacker isn't worth the risk if you don't know about the encryption.
Hell even if it's encrypted (it probably is), if someone's tenacious enough they will crack it and you may suddenly find you can't access your account two months down the line.

Pfft. Forget VNC, just run an SSH tunnel through a trusted machine. You get minor additional lag. I wouldn't PvP, but its playable more or less. If you have more than one trusted machine, run nested tunnels. -

Wait wait. You're at defcon, but you don't have the ability to VPN into your home box from a McDs or Starbucks? Woudln't do it form the hotel, the hotels in the immediate area are not exactly... secure.
Epic fail. Should have set a longer skill before you left.
Also, probably just a bragging troll. :(

What the hell are you doing at DefCon Party if you cant even tell whether or not logging in to EVE is safe?? Besides, you have allready logged in just to make the post here..
I have to admit I am wondering what you are doing at that party in the first place..
