Over the years the number of pilots in Eve has increased a lot. I remember when a few thousand pilots online was the peak of the day. With this increase of pilots and also the increased hunger for resources because of capital ships, outposts and so on I think it would be appropriate to also increase the size of the universe. As crowded as it is these days, the universe does seem much smaller than in the beginning of Eve.
Personally I'd multiply the number of empire systems by 1.5, the number of lowsec systems by 2 and the number of .0 systems by 4 or so.

again, i agree, its been discussed on this forum before to, but maybe they could add like you said, around 1.5 empire space systems, but those low sec systems and null sec, you would have to DISCOVER them instead of them just being there, it would add that feel of exploratoin to the game as well, and they shouldnt make it easy, only the dedicated would be able to find them, not just, drop a probe and find "ancient stargate"
good idea though

Yes I agree, it would be nice having to discover those systems first. Maybe through some sort of jumpholes that have to be scanned for. Those might be unstable and change their location (maybe even to another solar system) every now and then.

Maybe adding some systems that don't have any stargates, you can only get there through exploration.
Don't make the systems instanced, but the portals to get there are. You would need to allow for others to find similar portals to the same systmes though, so it isnt' considered instancing.
Make them resource rich, guarded large Rat fleets, including Dreads and maybe Starbases, but once they are neutralized, you can jump in the minning/salvaging fleets.
Just be quick before someone else get's there and cynos a hostile fleet on you.
Balancig risk vs reward could be hard.

Edited by: Morgan Brykein on 09/08/2008 22:01:37 Maybe something like the Megellanic Clouds, namely, a small dwarf galaxy orbiting around New Eden. Maybe they could harbor some kind of new nation, human in origin of course.

i disagree i think that solar systems should be updated giving pilots more things to do in the current systems increasing the amount of space in the galaxy could result in players being spread to thin maybe when we have another few thousand members IL change my mind though.

a new galaxy with hostile life forms that are NOT of human origin would be even awesomer. Im talking like concord strength ships that can shred you to pieces if you are not prepared. and of course it would all be 0.0.

With so many empty systems your idea is pretty crap tbh if your sick of living in an overcrowded system get your corp to move to one of the thousands of completely empty systems its what i do.

A system may be empty but that doesn't mean it is worth having or that its owners are going to let you have it. If a system is empty it is for a good reason.
The eve universe was starting to feel small even before the introduction of jump bridges and the explosion in capital ship numbers. Now it is possible for a fleet to jump the entire span of the eve galaxy, attack a target, and be back in a single evening.
Adding more space would obviously help but the Eve world will not feel large again until its world's farthest reaches take a long time to reach. I've thought about having "unstable stars" that jump drives must path around and the surrounding systems where nothing larger than a GSC can be anchored.
Whatever the method, something needs to be done. The "shrinking" of eve has consequences beyond not being able to find a system to rat in. The most notable is horrible crippling lag caused by enormous fleets. Right now, anyone is in striking range of anyone and the result is a few massive coalitions feilding massive fleets that fight several regions away from their home systems.

New clusters seems like a good idea to me.
But they should be too far away to jump with ships. You'd have to warp via gate to get to them(thereby slowing the game down a bit).
Not 0.0, either - some low sec systems near the gates and filtering to 0.0 farther out(Concord would have a vested interest in maintaining order in any new frontier space).
Basically like the new Drone Regions. Just way farther out and each connected to ES via a supergate/superhighway. Once you are there, normal gates and such of course.
For 35K people, EVE should have about 2x the territory that it now has.
