Was wondering, when TiDi kicks in does CCP get some sort of notification? Do alarms start ringing up in Iceland saying "hey go re-enforce this node before it dies"?
I've seen engagements where TiDi kicks in and stays on fora while, when only 200-300 people are in system. Where as last night, I was involved in an engagement with probably ~400 and I don't think TiDi ever kicked in. We've been putting several systems in that general area in TiDi a lot recently. I thought maybe CCP was getting wise and shifting some server power over that way. I know you can inform them before large engagements, just curious if multiple TiDi's in the same area kinda do that for you now... |

I think you're misunderstanding how node reinforcement works (and what the fleet fight notification is for).
As far we've been told, CCP can't currently make a node reinforced while the game is live, only at downtime, which is why they like you to fill in the FF notifications (so they can manually reinforce a system).
As for the reinforcement itself, from what I recall, it's simply making sure a single solar system has a node to itself (ie, Jita or places where big fights are planned), in preperation for a big load, rather than the normal behavior of a node managing multiple solar systems and having to spread it's limited resources between those solar systems.
TiDi, while awesome, is mearly a bandaid to help the (possibly overloaded) server process everything and keep lag balanced between all parties.
I suspect CCP Vertias does have a script running to display what nodes are currently using TiDi though. |

I believe reinforcing a node requires bringing it down still. If they could dynamically assign more server gerbils to one node, there wouldn't have been a need for TiDi. Here's your sign... |

*EDIT: There might not have been a recognized need for TiDi anyway. It still was useful in finding issues and smoothing out the rough patches, and therefore needed.
Good edit. Was about to say this ^ He who trolls trolls best when he who is trolled trolls the troller. -Darth Gustav's Axiom |

Take a look at this link.
Quote:For some time now, we have been monitoring requests sent via stuck petition to GM's for notifications of incoming fleet battles. Where possible we have been placing these systems on high powered blades to ensure you get the best server performance possible in your fleet fight.
To reduce load on the GM's, and to get these requests where they need to go as quickly as possible we now have a system for you to notify our virtual world operations team of these fights directly.
Seems like they do respond manually to large scale fleet fight. |

Also:
Quote:Notifications must be at least 24h in advance, as we re-map these systems during downtime.
There we go. |
