Docking in a station with your pod (assuming you dont have any ship there already) will get you a shiny new velator (or whatever your ratial ship is) for free.

Welcome to the game, Crocidolite - I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck with the ship! :(
As MrYiff said, docking will net you a brand new newbie ship complete with a mining laser and one gun. I would recommend you go and mine a bit until you can at least afford a second gun, or if you enjoy mining, keep mining until you can move up to a larger ship. Sometimes, you just run into bad luck and have to do whatever odd job will get you back in the green :)

Well, civilian guns are very weak anyways, but if you want a secound on just repackage and assemble the e rookie ship. (when you assemble a rookie ship it automaticaly come with one civilian gun and one basic miner fitted). But if you are desesperated enough to consider a rookie ship with civilian guns i wold say to create a diferent character in one of your open slots and do the tutorial (including the 10 mission brnch) so getting a few new ships and equipment.

Welcome to the game, Crocidolite Blue. You are well on your way, and knowing enough to post a question here shows that you've already progressed more rapidly than most. Have fun.
Oh, your avatar shows-up after a few weeks/couple months, be patient.

Welcome to EVE. EVE is a harsh mistress of a game, and has scared off weaker folk many more times than those who are into torture and pain like to say they love the game.
Do note that the game itself provides you with the tools to create your own fun. Thats the main reason its called more like a sandbox instead of a "rollercoaster ride" that WoW, LOTRO, and all the other MMO's tend to act like.
Make your own fun. Keep this in mind and you'll go far :D -

And while you are mining, take the time to read the player guide and the sticky posts in this forum. Best advice a friend gave me when I began to play was to read the "manual".

Do you see him asking for isk anywhere in his post? He's asking how he's supposed to get out of this, and he has got his answer. Geez, some of you people are more paranoid than necessary.

Things you can do with Rookie Ships (if you are really bored or really desperate):
1) Each and every time you find yourself in your ships hangar with nothing but your pod - you will be given a new rookie ship. If you don't have one - then log out or leave the base and come right back - one will be there. If you are in a corporation, if you get in the habit of leaving whatever ship you are in when you quit for the day and moving that ship to a corporate hangar - then you'll get a new rookie ship every time you log in. If you are in a system with two bases in it, you can get in your pod, fly to the other base (where you don't have any ships in your Ships Hangar) and get a new rookie ship. Fly it back to your first base and you can then fly back to the other base yet again to get yet another rookie ship. If you want - you can get yourself an entire armada of rookie ships.
2) Yes. If you repackage a rookie ship in your ships hangar all the items on it will be transferred to your Items Hangar.
3) If you assemble a repackaged rookie ship it will be assembled with a new civilian weapon and basic miner (though not with the 1 unit of tritanium you will get if you come into a base where you didn't have a ship and were given a new one).
4) Repeatedly repackaging and assembling rookie ships will create as many civilian weapons and basic miners as you want. You can then put in a sell order for these items. You don't make much but they do sell. If you collect a bunch of rookie ships, you can right click on your pod, select Invert Selection to highlight all the other ships, repackage or assemble them and use a collection of rookie ships to manufacture civilian weapons and basic miners - then sell them. I asked and was told that this is not in fact an exploit.
5) Just the other day, (I was really bored) I took a Caldari Character (I had him trained to Gallente Frigate Level I) and put him in a Velator (because it has two drones), put on a Beam Laser specifically for the type mismatch, a Damage Control Unit I, a Salvager, two drones and a Civilian Afterburner. Then I took him out ratting. He was able to successfully kill rats in Punishers in .6 space. The only time I had a problem with him was if I let the rats get to close. Here, I had more trouble from the faster rats flying Executioners than the heavier but slower Punishers - and THAT - was because I wasn't using the drones. Once I started using the drones ... the rats all died easily.
6) And yes you can take that free basic miner ... and go mine some roids and sell the ore. Sadly, while you can fit two rookie weapons, you can't fit two basic miners on a rookie ship as it doesn't have the CPU for it.
Now - AGAIN - none of this is a good use of your time. It is only something to mess around with if you are either bored or desperate.
The POINT of all of the above - is that you can actually do quite a bit in a free rookie ship. So - if you ARE ever reduced to nothing but your pod - you have the means at hand to start over again. Of course - the first thing you're going to want to do (if you aren't just messing around because you're bored) - is to get the hell out of that rookie ship!

Good point. I stand corrected. :D

Don't worry bro there are some very jaded individuals in game. That being said there are many more nice and helpfull individuals.
My main suggestion would be that you join a player corp. That would help significantly. Many corps are RL centred, like the corp I am in, and understand the limited gameplay by members. Go here and make a post and put in their what your real life situation is and see who recruits you.

Yeah, as Slade said don't take all this personally.
What you should take away from this posting experience isn't that you shouldn't come here and ask questions - you should. What you should note from the suspicion greeting your post was that there are a lot of people out there who are scamming - thus - you should be suspicious of everyone too. You see - scamming is a legitimate form of game play in EVE. Some people have worked extremely hard to ingratiate themselves with a player corporation and spent a long time gaining the trust of the executives solely for the purpose of robbing them then bragging about it. They were not universally greeted with cries of condemnation but rather were congratulated on a carefully crafted con.
Tricking other players into doing something simply so that you can blow them up is common practice in EVE.
It is a cold, brutal, game.
You spend months building something and someone else will come along and gleefully destroy everything you worked so hard to do in an instant.
That is the nature of this game.
It isn't that you can't make friends and have some fun with them - it's just that you really don't want to just trust people and assume they're good intentions.
Now ... one other thing that has occurred to me. Is that if you did a Set Destination to your mission system, if you don't have your Auto Pilot Map Preferences set to Safest rather than Shortest (which is the default) then you may just be directed through a .4 system where Condord isn't present. This may well have been how you got blown up. When you do a Set Destination, you'll see a row of colored dots down the left side of your screen. Each of these dots represents the security status of a system you will be flying through. Orange to red dots are .4 and below systems where, even though they will take a security status hit for blowing you up - Condord will not actually do anything to them (unless they come up to a higher level system). Going into a .4 and below system is something you want to look out for. Here - if you get a warning saying that you are entering a .4 system - then if you didn't intend to travel through Low Sec - you may not want to go through that gate.

If you do the storyline mission, then you will get at least 1 ship out of it, which will make your life a lot easier

Edited by: ApaKaka on 13/08/2008 14:11:07 If you are more interested in the 'dark side' of things, I'd advice you to go to low-sec with an alt-character in your velator, and try to loot the various wrecks lying about from players killing other players. This can be very profitable for a new character.
And since you don't have to worry about losing skillpoints with your brand new alt the only cost incurred if they kill your pod is 5000 isk and as mentioned around here, you get new velators for free once you dock.
Just make sure to set your clone to respawn close to that system which you are currently exploiting, and beware of ****ed off pirates

What he is describing takes no real experience.... You simply look at your map and find a lowsec area with recent kills and head out there with an alt noob in a rookie ship and start looting whatever you can. If you get exploded there is no real problem, as you are in a free ship and playing a character with nothing to lose. If you dont get exploded you come home with a ship full of goodies, some possibly worth tens of millions of isk (hey, it could happen!). -=^=-
