Hi fellow Pod Pilots!
I just wanted to let you know about a new radio station which will begin broadcasting to the EVE-Online community on the 31st August at 19:00GMT, New Eden Radio.
I can hear the cries now, 'not another radio station'...but this is slightly different. We are not an alliance station, we are here for the whole community (yes, even BoB are welcome to listen...) we are non-profit, so unfortunately this also means no frills (we aren't asking for a minimum amount of donations each month etc like some other stations, although they will be welcome!) but we still expect to be gproducing quality fun shows for you! Finally, we will have DJ's from across the community, with different levels of experience. You have the newbs like me, right up to experienced pilots and corp CEO's.
Please come and check us out - our website is www.newedenradio.com
We hope you'll come and listen, and that you'll like what you hear! Tempest3K Director New Eden Radio www.newedenradio.com |

isn't New Eden Radio = Eve Underground Radio?
Also, has Tempest been kicked from ER, or is this a different Tempest?

Seeing as I was the general manager for GRN, which ER was part of, I'd say that was more power than running a little community station! I left for a number of reasons, including the fact I felt they had lost their community focus - hence New Eden Radio. No one is forcing you to tune in either.
You are more than welcome to rant, but please do some research before you do Tempest3K Director New Eden Radio www.newedenradio.com |

To be frank, you will get a bit of both! I think a station that tried to be 100% EvE would get stale very quickly, but we will have EvE content, ingame competitions, news etc. If you have any ideas of what you would like to see, please head over to our site and put them up in the forums for discussion :) Tempest3K Director New Eden Radio www.newedenradio.com |

Here's my question: will there be EVE-related content? Or will it just be another "hey may name is DJ Superawesomeness and you get to listen to my music for the next two hours"? Because if it's not going to have a considerable focus on EVE then why bother associating it with the game?
I ask this not to bash or hate, I really enjoyed the early days of EVE Radio when the DJs played EVE and talked about it on the air, had fun with listeners in the chat channels AND in game. I hope that's what you're trying to do with this.
Edit: I see you answered this a couple of posts up, my bad. But I leave my note because I think the point deserves attention. The station will garner a much larger base of listeners from the game otherwise.

Do not care, every eve radio station I ever listened to had 5 minutes of music and 20 minutes of the DJ endlessly babbling about his life all his thoughts on stuff that I couldn't care less about, or couldn't be more bored listening too. I just stick on a commercial station without the adverts.

We are not going to be anything like you just described tbh, more music, eve content, comps, bringing back a radio station that interacts directly with the eve community. Playing music you want to hear. Something we feel everyone else has ignored for far to long now.

Hey WB,
There will definately be EVE-related content. It may take a little time for us to get the amount we would like, but as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day! If you or anyone else has ideas for events/competitions/features you would like to hear, please drop us a line - it's your community station after all

I'll tune in and listen for a bit, it's always nice to brroaden your musical horizons. But please have some variation in music. The reason I stopped listening to other stations was because all they played was trance/euro-pop or horribly generic heavy metal. It would be nice to hear some jazz or blues now and then .

I definitely agree with you that they lost their focus with all the assossiated rubbish that was released (stations with 100% jukebox, and for that matter what happened to all the good songs on the jukebox?), although eve-radio itself is still good.
Good Luck!

There's still a totally open niche which isn't being filled by ANYONE, and that's an EVE radio station that has EVE-related content. "EVE Radio" does not fill this definition even in the slightest, they haven't for years.
I'm hoping this new effort can keep this as a focus first and foremost.

The First Day
The first recorded Words of God that we have are "Let there be light" (Genesis 1:3 NIV). The sun was already shining brightly, but God made the earth's thick new atmosphere allow diffuse light to penetrate to the surface. And so it was that the light was made separate from darkness. The first day of earth's creation was literally the first "day" as someone on earth's surface would experience it - a period of opaque light, and a period of darkness. (Genesis 1:3-5)
The Second Day
The separation of the waters. There was yet no liquid water, no oceans. All of the water was in the form of a vapor, a worldwide super-fog, extending a number of kilometers/miles up from the very hot (above the boiling temperature of water) bare-rock earth's surface (the earth's core remains molten right to the present day). God's "hovering over the waters" in verse 2 describes His being above that gaseous-water atmosphere, not a liquid ocean. God then caused most of the water to condense onto the cooling earth which simultaneously formed a whole-planet ocean and cleared the sky. (Genesis 1:6-8)
The Third Day
The first appearance of dry ground. The further cooling of the surface set in motion a process of natural contraction, uplifting and motion of the crust (the process continues today, called "plate tectonics"). The earth changed from a smooth one-level molten "cue ball" to a planet with an irregular surface with ocean basins and continental landmasses. With dry ground available, the first plants were made to grow in great abundance. (Genesis 1:9-13)
The Fourth Day
With the sky now clear, the sun, moon and stars were dependably visible. They were to "serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years." The sun marked the day (sunset to sunset), the moon the month (new moon to new moon), and the stars the seasons (constellations are seen in particular seasons e.g. "Orion" is visible in winter in the northern hemisphere, which is summer in the southern hemisphere). (Genesis 1:14-19)
The Fifth Day
Great numbers of birds and sea creatures. God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." (Genesis 1:20-23)
The Sixth Day
Vast numbers of land animals. Man. From the man, woman (humans today are just now discovering how to genetically alter fertilized embryos, and even to create one human from the tissue of another - known as "cloning"). (Genesis 1:24-31)
The Seventh Day
The Sabbath Day. "By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day he built Rome. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested [or ceased] from all the work of creating all that he had done (Of course he only rested properly after he built Rome)." The day that is the basis for The Fourth Commandment. (Genesis 2:2-3)
--------- The answer is in there somewhere

Hi All,
After spending the past few weeks getting stuff like servers, website etc sorted out, we will be launching with live DJ's from 1900 GMT this evening. Whilst we would love to launch with a huge show of chaos, madness and giveaways, being a community station run on a budget means we can only promise the first 2 :p
However, I'm sure we can find a few ISK or maybe a GTC from somewhere during the evening, as well as giving you a taste of some of the stuff we hope to bring you in future. We hope to see you this evening. Tempest3K Director New Eden Radio www.newedenradio.com |
