Does the bonus on your salvagers mean the chance that you will salvage successfully? Or does it represent the chance of getting something when you salvage successfully?
I've just started going around ninja'ing T2 wrecks in a Catalyst for a bit of a change from pvp and I am constantly getting the message 'Notify You successfully salvage from the Blah Blah Elite Wreck. Unfortunately there was nothing to be salvaged.'.
Is this because each of my 8 salvagers only has a 25% access difficulty bonus? (lvl 3 + 1x rig)
Is putting 8x salvagers on one wreck counter productive? Should I only use 1 or 2?
I've been thinking of going with 6x T2 guns and 2x salvagers. Hunting intys and assault frigates and salvaging them after the kill.
Thanks for the help.

It decreases the chance that you will need to scan again. Nothing will change what you are going to find in the wreck. Correct. You need a higher access difficulty bonus to access T2 wrecks: train salvaging to a higher level. Originally by: Purest Heart Is putting 8x salvagers on one wreck counter productive? Should I only use 1 or 2?
Depends on the situtation.
Only the first successful salvage cycle counts, the rest are wasted.
If you have several wrecks in range it is generally preferable to spread them around. If you are trying to beat someone else to salvaging, the extra attempts might be worth while.

Argh. The last 11 T2 wrecks I have salvaged have been 'you successfully salvage, but we 'aint givin' you shi-et!' situations.
What am I doing wrong!?
Does 30% from salvaging 4 + 1x rig vs 25% from 3 + rig really make that much of a difference?
Maybe I'm just ludicrously unlucky.

Your doing nothing wrong. When a wreck is created, the system assigns a salvage result to it. The wrecks you salvaged were assigned the "nothing to be salvaged" result.
And, yes you are very unlucky.

i'd recommend a dedicated salvage ship, to change to after missions, or if that isn't feasible a second account to salvage, you will save a lot of downtime, as it can focus on salvaging while you kill. I also recommend stacking salvage rigs to decrease fail chance.

It only makes a difference if you are see alot of "Salvaging failed, please try again" type results. Originally by: Hamarkon Isloan Your doing nothing wrong. That's about it.

I'm ninja salvaging T2 wrecks in low sec/0.0 with a destroyer so I don't think I'll put more than 1 of these rigs on. Thanks for the advice though.

Or hire a dedicated salvager if you are near where Kraid Salvaging opperates. === The percentage to salvage doesn't affect th chances that you will get anything from the wreck or what you so get. All it dos is allow you to salvage tech 2 as well as decrease the number of cycles required to actually salvage from a wreck.
At level one it might take 6 cycles to salvage a wreck whereas it will only take one or two at higher levels. Regardless of level though it will always give the same stuff. --Bird of Prey: Forum God

I'd recommend switching to a faster ship than a destroyer if you are ninja salvaging since you have no use for tractors. Find the fastest frig you can fly, fit it with the fastest AB you can use and as many salvagers as it will hold along with salvage rigs and off you go. It should make your work go a lot faster.
