Upon further thinkage on the grabability of the cash held by an American as one counts his money I realized something. It is more vulnerable to grabage, but I don't mind because that just gives more people an opportunity to give me cause to hurt them.

Beware taking Visa is done differently in some parts of the world, even regionally there tends to be a considerable 'hidden fee'.

None of the above. The one for the UK is definitely wrong. Banks here often place all the money on the counter with the width of the note left to right and place both thumbs in the centre of the pile and stroke the top opposing corner of the notes towards the thumbs with the index finger of the right or left hand depending on which you prefer, using the other index finger to hold the notes already dragged. More experienced cashiers use both index fingers on one corner alternately.
Similar to the Arabic countries but done on the counter instead of in the hand.

I want to start a new thread, but I will hold off for no, but please stop using American when you mean the United States. Someone said American money is all the same color and size, which is not so true nowadays. I seriously doubt that holds true to Canada, Central American countries, and South American countries.
P.S. I am a US citizen not an American citizen.

Edited by: Daelorn on 12/08/2008 22:02:19 I always count money the first way, but I've never seen people count money any other way besides the first and last (Even though I visited some of those countries.)

Yes, some people in the post offices do that, but I count notes like the last one from left to right hand, working as someone who has to pay out a lot of cash to customers and very little counter space to do so. I also have a compulsion to make sure all money is facing the same way and is stacked where fives are on top, then tens, twenties and fifties.
Originally by: F'nog Thus I didn't need to give more than a passing glance to know the difference between one pound and five just by size, let alone color and design.
If you needed a passing glance to distinguish between a pound coin and a five pound note, you need to train Spatial Awareness to level 1 my friend!

Last time I was there, and it's been 18 years, I think they had pound notes. The locals loved giving them to me since they apparently prefer the coins for themselves.

Very interesting. Never thought about this before...
Sweden count like US/Canada/UK by the way. When comparing the number of ways, I still think our way is the fastest and most efficient.

that's weird... the way i count wasn't in there, its more or less the first thing upside down.
but tbh, most of the time i have so little money, that i count it either the american or the african way, depending on where i pulled that paper from.
this leads me to the conclusion: it doesnt really have anything to do with where you come from

Bank of England ú1 notes were withdrawn in the late '80s, I think. You can still get some Scottish and Channel Island ú1 notes though. ------

Well that explains it, I remember them from my trip back in '84.
