now i dont want to run missions of livestock for 10isk reward, i heard that people were moving npc items by the freighter load from 1 npc space to another for isk. now i dont fully understand how this works, its not like player buy/sell orders so is it purely mission type way of trade? cheers.. just thinking of an excuse not to sell my providence..

There are orders on the market not placed by players, and these NPC orders create a system of trade where say Home Electronics are worth 50 isk/unit at Jita, and worth 75 isk/unit at Amarr. So if you buy them in Jita and sell them in Amarr you make that much profit per unit. Since certain trade goods are only used in NPC buy/sell orders, those are the ones with this sort of imbalance (as anything like that in the player run segment of the market would only last about an hour before an enterprising individual did a trade run)

Having watched NPC goods for a while and running the occasional load of items here is my few ISK worth of observation.Depends what you mean by volume. There aren't open ended profits upwards to be had. The maximum volumes are certainly not on the scale that would you would need a freighter. A large industrial with a few cargoholds is sufficient.
It is no secret that Antibiotics gives you a high(est) return because of its small volume and the good margins that are to be had. Usually it is sold in batches of approx 7500 units, sometimes up to 58000 units. That fills up around 10000m3. It is only really worth while if you find a large low price position and a corresponding high one. Usually the difference is around 40-50 isk per unit with 5-8 jumps to make. That will give you a profit of around 1.5 million isk (all figures are rough, approx. guesstimates :) ).
That being said. You need to have around 15 million ISK to purchase the goods. As soon as you have made the run the prices readjust so the profitability goes down considerably to a low three figured sum. Also it is difficult to match such high quantities up. So on any given day you might be lucky to make such a profitable run. For the batched of 7500 units it is somewhat easier.
Other goods can also give you good returns, but then there is volume versus profitability to take into account. Depending on the size of ship you have available the best way to check prices is to display the items in your market according to the largest quantities first.
You can also buy up the smaller positions of low prices. That is very time consuming and probably no better than any other ISK generating task.

I used to run computers from Lave to Leesti in my Cobra Mk III back in the day and make truckloads. But then my Cobra Mk III got badly hit with the nerfbat when Ronald Regan put lasers in space.
Sorry.

Hauling npc goods station to station one buy / sell at a time is NOT how this is played.
Ponder remote buys and remote sells, and the ability to have a several million (or several hundred million) unit stockpile per station for a moment. Then think pipelining the buys and sells, using a freighter to re-fill empty stockpiles.
Now you should understand how NPC good trading is worthwhile, but only if you've got ISK and patience to invest long term.
