Screams "Adapt or die."
Everytime someone has something to say about EVE some noob comes out with adapt or die. Id like to see some of these people out in 0.0. Sure would make me happy to kill some of them. Stop sitting on the forums and bring your hostile ass in the game

It is, but it's also popular. I wish things like 'lol' and other leetspeak would never have become normal, but it's one of those things.
Funny part is, those saying Adapt or Die are often bit by the same bug. It is EvE's mantra, after all. If you cant adapt, learn, and persist, you won't be around for long. EvE wears on the stubborn.

It falls in the same line as "Darwinism". However the adapt or die catch phrase is used more towards nerfs as of lately. And everyone has been flailing it around like some old dead cat.

Saying Adapt or Die is just the same as saying "Don't like it? Tough!" though.
It's usually just a lazy answer by someone who doesn't like what you're saying.

It isn't out of hand at all. If you can't adapt to changes in the game then you should just die IRL. Seems reasonable to me, but then my mom was raised near a nuke silo.

Noobs don't ever say adapt or die they say 'omg in wow when I die I can just pay the reaper an insignificant fee to be right back to were I was before I got killzored'. Get you mmo's strait mate.

I've been adapting for a while now..
.. when my beloved Myrm got nerfed, I switched to medium drones, trained up my skills some more, and went on. And my Myrm is still a good ship, even post-nerf.
.. when HICs were introduced, I trained up blockade runners, nano'd 'em up, and continued my lowsec hauling operations.
.. when a 3-person nano-gang interrupted my 0.0 mining op, and we decided that since there were 9 of us and 3 of them we could take 'em even though we were miners (in our defense we did switch to combat ships), and we got our asses wiped all over space, we decided we wouldn't fight nanos anymore no matter how much of asses they were being.
See, I adapted. Now it's time for those who've been screaming at me for the lsat year plus to take their own medicine. Eve will better off with these changes, IMO.

Also I seem to recall a huge amount of crying when HICs where introduced, something along the lines of...
"OMG CCP IS CAVING TO PIEWATS LOWSEC IS DOOMED AND ALL THE CAREBEARS WILL QUIT AND CCP WON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY THE BILLS AND EVE WILL CLOSE SO YOU SHOULDN'T INTRODUCE HICS CAUSE IT WILL RUIN THE GAME AND BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH"
These things come in cycles. Eve isn't doomed, CCP isn't pandering to carebears or blobs, they're just putting things back how they should be, which is good. Upcoming sov changes should fix the blob problems - that's the real fix, not nano.

Adapt or die is the necessary response in game.
Saying it on the forums in response to balance changes is pretty dumb though.

The first time I ever really saw the statement, was when some guy called for a nano nerf. In the threadnought, the nano users used the statement plenty.
What they meant however was, adapt your fittings or loose your ship. Because if EVE was balanced, there wouldn't be stupid cookie cutter setups. Now, to adapt against nano ships, you would only have to use a high-slot on a battleship and the nano would be forced to run away, or die.
Since I adapted as much as I could to face nano ships, they were never a problem for me.
When the speed nerf was announced, all the idiots who had previously refused to change their setups started spouting the phrase, not realising that unlike them, most nano ship pilots will be perfectly capable of adapting to the new changes in some way or another. Idiots will still get killed by their own stupidity because they refuse to adapt.

Actually I think the current proliferation of 'adapt or die' is largely due to the fact that the very people that used to irregularly throw it around on the forums (gankers/griefers) are being nerfed themselves now and cry just like all the people they used to smack with their 'adapt or die' cried before.
Typical case of people not willing to taste their own medicine.
And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...

Its just evolotion basically, if they never changed anything in game. Then folk would be up in arms moaning that nothing is every changed and would get bored with it. There is just no pleasing peeps.
Change is good, this forces new methods of playing etc to come about. Mixes things up a bit, hopefully for the better but yeah mistakes will be made on the way.
But the statement of "Adapt or die" is quite spot on. It works two ways, for the people in game and also for CCP, they dont adapt EVE to the target consumer, then they will die.
