Edited by: Mikesnail on 03/06/2004 16:16:18 I decided to do a bit of exploration, and thought, what better way to start, than explore my home system. So, my mission, to fly as close to the star as possible. hopped in the ship, warped the star, took a screenshot (for comparison if anything should change the closer you get) and proceeded to head towards the flames! after about 30,000km if travel, the star changed, i didnt see the transition, so i am guessing it was instantanious. anyway, here is the image for anyone that wants to take a peek
sun comparsion image
am now proceeding closer.

Interesting.
If i understand correctly, the image on the right is the one further from the sun. You can see the "explosions" on the sun's surface. The image on the left is about 30000 km closer, and its just 1 big bright ball.
Maybe it's just a graphical "bug". Have you ever been IN a planet before? Quite interesting actually. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You humans are extremely irritant with your illogical behaviour and irrational thought" -------- |

sun and planets are irrelevant matters, and if ccp was to make them collidable, in a mmorpg wedd get lotta screams . i have this in a game called X2, docking and everything else is manual, and i make one wrogn move i lose my ship and have to reload --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. I forgot to ask her her phone number" - Nelix trist OMG im a pretzel!!! |

There is alctualy three distinct views of each sun to reprosent the differant layers of a real sun. If you continue to approach the sun to a 0k distance it gets incredibly small and there is actualy a perty large area or zone inside the 0k range. Its perty cool if ya ask me |

would be cool if you started taking hull damage if you got too close.

Edited by: Zarquon Beeblebrox on 03/06/2004 18:08:42 Iv been inside the sun once. I warped to something behind the sun and made a bm. the bm happend to be inside the sun.
Once i was making a scan-point bm of a gate. the bm happend to be 100m from a moon. I traveled to the moon and what you know, the ship is half in and half outside the moon.
To bad i dont have the screen shots i made, they was deleted with my last cache removal.
