the gf has tasked me with the challenge of building her a pc that can actually run turetts and all brackets with 15 accounts, she is currently running a;
6 core 3.4 AMD Pehnom Black 2 (never gets past 40% with 8 accounts)
16gb Ram 1333mhz (never gets past 45% with 8 accounts)
2 x 10k raptor 500gb raid 0 HDD's
5970 gfx card
What can I do to this system to future proof it, as it use to run 8 with ease but with the new gfx it makes the GFX run like a fat man for an ice cream van at 98% with gfx on low and brackets and turrets off.
i was considering buying an additional 6970 to complement the 5970 and crossfiring them, will this make the machine furture proof for all new releases and enable me to get her upto her desired 15 accounts on a machine
Any suggestions would be appreciated as she is a dedicated miner and wants MOOOOOOAR :)

SLI/Crossfire generally does nothing for you unless you run single-monitor setup with the game in full-screen.
8-core CPUs may be better then a 6-core CPU.
Or use a pair of cheaper boxes, hook each up to their own monitor and run Synergy so you can move the mouse between the two screens (which also changes keyboard focus). |

You are GPU limited plain and simple...
The raptors are "useless" as you are not even using all your ram... so once eve is loaded into system memory the HDD's are not even being used, eve is not being paged...
2x gtx 680's. Done. Also new PSU, you did not mention it telling me it was not cared about when the system was built and likely is cheap ****.
You don't want to SLI and then use different screens... just run 2x cards and just use different screens... |

It was my understanding that EVE doesn't support SLI. If you look at the Graphics Tab it only sees one card. If that has changed that would be great... |

Well they are not entirely "useless". You still need a hard drive. But I get what you mean...

I new putting this on we could end up in a Ati / Nvida & AMD / Intel debate, this system was built cheaply in the beginning and willing to replace all and build from scratch again,
My logic was that the cpu and ram were not maxed there for didnt need to be touched, but the gpu maxed is where the issue is, just looking for confirmation 2 or 3 cards would be better, and a card per screen or all via one card sli'd / crossfired |

The CPU is probably your primary bottleneck. Increasing the clock speed to around 3.8 is well within reach for a Thuban core and would probably help a bit. Unfortunately, clock for clock the X6 lags significantly behind the newer intel chips, so if you really want to squeeze every last bit of performance you'll want an ivybridge based chip with a decent overclock applied.

I have 3 - I7 Rigs, 920. 950, 2700K and an I5 Laptop.
Eve runs exceptionally well even on the slowest with no over clock... |

I'm having something similar happen to me maybe somebody could help me please this is my first comp i have built for myself
my system
I7 2600k
xfx 16gb ddr3 1600
dual hd6970 2gb
240gb ssd (have a nas with 3x2tb raid 5 for the media sharinf with other comps n lappys at home only mentioning it cos i set it up myself and i'm so chuffed lol)
H80 Hydro liquid CPU cooler
xfx pro 850w psu
what i'm asking about is at first i had only 1 hd6970 but i wanted more than 3 screend (i know about eyefin etc but it not much more expensive to buy a second 6970 they get displays with display port and get adapters etc)
the single 6970 ran 3 screens and 5 accts perfect max everything no lag ever never above 60c
but since i installed teh second one i can't get over 20fps when running 6 accts fps probelms appear with 3 if i turn on intervel imediate then it runs everything perfect but my gpu's hit 70c when docked but after 10 mins it runs around 60c
for somereason it heats up more when docked when in space there is no issues
but its the first 10mins at 70c that worrys me
anybody any ideas what i done wrong or how it can be fixed i know its not a huge issue but i'm worried as i'm noob with computers rteally
tldr
i used to run 5 accts on 3 screens on my pc with 1 hd6970 but i wanted extra screens so i bought a second hd6970 and now
with my setup i run 5 accts on 4 screens everything is at max it runs perfect but i must have the interveal set to immediate or it does like 20fps,
it runs at 70c for about 10 mins then cools to 60c for the rest of the time i using it without load gpu is 40c

Your an idiot... 40% usage = needs more speed? Care to explain how? Each client can use its own core... so.. um.....
