So here I am, during a period of roughly 7 months I have been transforming myself from a pure rock and metalhead into something wider. It all started with Drum and Bass as I watched some of the old EVE trailers again and thought they were nice. I found some nice dnb and got my hands on that. Now I've found Goa (Thank you matrix and di.fm ) and I am curious about what I should keep my eyes on in that genre.

Chi-A.D. Juno Reactor Filteria
Check out a few psychedelic trance artists like "Infected Mushroom" as well.
My favorite way of absorbing Goa/Psychedelic though is through Last.fm ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. It's given freely, and only grudgingly retracted when necessary. |

Well, kinda hard to explain, at least for me.
Goa-Trance is has a more organic feel to it PsyTrance is a more psycadelic experience
Hard to describe and obviously no my speciality, I would suggest checking the wiki pages about since they are more or less accurate.

Psychedelic trance was born out of the Goa trance. Traditionally Goa relies on Analogue synths and hardware samplers (and even if the artist goes all digital they'll try to keep the analogue sound) while Psytrance is all software. Both are very focused on the melody loops but while Goa (as it's a dance oriented trance) doesn't have that many changes in beat (in fact it relies on a beat that's not that much different from disco except in terms of bpm) Psychedelic trance generally changes beat and melody every 32nd beat (being more oriented towards the psychedelic/mystical/oriental experience that is common to both styles). Both styles also have a sort of flowing feel to it, like waves slowly rising and sinking.
But really, the best way know how Goa/Psy is different from regular trance is to listen to it. The sound is VERY distinctive. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. It's given freely, and only grudgingly retracted when necessary. |

P.S: ...I can't believe I forgot to mention "Hallucinogen". His "Twisted" album is pretty much the album people associate with Goa. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. It's given freely, and only grudgingly retracted when necessary. |
