they fulfill an important ecological niche like carrion eaters. without them life would get too stale. and the rumored general attention span of goonies would minimze the impact of the ganking anyway. good things all around

I respect the goons on one basis, they found enough morons to group with to hold 0.0 space in some fashion. Other than that they are basically brain dead, and they scam the only people that are actually dumb enough to join up with them drastically lowering their overall possible membership. Lots of people like the goon mentality. The problem with the goons though is that they chase away the people that could benefit them more as a member than an enemy. Who knows though, maybe that is their goal and the war with BoB was just a farce. Sure they won minuscule battles here and there but as a whole the goons have lost a lot more than they won. That's just my two cents on a failed alliance that is only holding 0.0 space because no one else wants where they live.
Goons don't want to play with Eve-O pubbies, they want to play with their own (members of SA.com) and they have been very successful at it. How many corps in the game can say they are able to get by on a closed membership? Most players may think the goonies are shooting themselves in the foot, but if they are enjoying the game and each others company, then they are doing a better job then everyone else who constantly complains about them. I just think a lot of players are jealous.

You do know that Goons bathe in the tears of whom they call "Pubbies" right. Looking at this thread they are going to be able to fuel that communal goon shower for weeks.

They're probably just enjoying themselves while they can, before the incoming changes with EA 1.1 that will make it difficult/worthless to gank all but the most heavily laden freighters (multiple billions worth of cargo split across a large number of stacks)
