Hey all,
Did a search but couldn't find this particular suggestion. One of the more frustrating things, especially while running missions, is having drones destroy one target, and then fly off to attack an un-aggro'd mob instead of dealing with the mob's that are currently aggro'd. I think an simple answer to this problem would be to assign drone targeting priority to anything the character currently has targeted. Most people have targets queued up in the order they want to attack them. If the character has no targets selected, then drones could auto-acquire following whatever (random seeming) method they currently use. In this way, drones would have a more intelligent targeting system, but also still be functional in any situation where the character doesn't have any current targets (jamming, targets destroyed, lazyiness, etc)

No... stupid drones are just fine. Take them off aggressive use passive and click engage target while you are watching TV.

At the moment controlling drones feels like you are hearding cats, even if they just picked a random target from the list that I've already targeted would be great it would be a HUGE improvement one the way it is now.

I rather like the way drones work right now. I rarely have unaggroed mobs, so I let the drones decide which targets to attack next(they know where they are and where the next ship is, I only know where I am and the next ship TO ME is).
Would they instead attack only my targets, I couldn't observe/attack other NPCs while they trash the rest of them. When I want my drones to attack specific ships, I order them to. There's a shortcut for that by now.
If it were made as another option, why not. But it shouldn't be default behaviour. |

Last time they experimented with drone AI it resulted in having rogue drones investing the universe
The current drone system is good enough. They also work on priorities if you a haven't noticed it yet. They will always go first on aggressive that are shooting, in that category they go for the smaller ships first. And yes they even pick up those that use ew first to.
Next proposal would be make fof missiles directing possible? Or turrets/launchers auto change targets when previous is destroyed?
So in short if you want priority of drones attack other ships. Just lock them and give the drones the attack command. And if you set a keyreference for it, it is done in let see 1 second? So how can we say? Are you lazy

Why not, the drones are doing that right now. Except they are choosing targets that we haven't even targeted yet.

Drones are VERY smart they can hear your commands just fine too, they just don't always listen. |
