My main question is should i run cosmos missions, i'm a new caldari player getting ready to hop into a drake for lvl 3's. working on my t2 shield tanking skills atm, my missile skills are mediocre, figure tank is more importnat then gank for missions.
Are Cosmos missions worth it? what do they give you that's good? i know that you get some bc's and storyline mission items, are these worth it? I'm also interested in increasing my faction standing for the eventual possibility of pos's in high sec.
would appreciate some feedback on what good cosmos missions there are in the caldari/amarr area of the world. thanks much

would suggest you hold off doing cosmos missions till you are comfortable running level 4's solo.

Not true, you can quite happily do the level 3 COSMOS missions (of which there are certainly a lot for Amarr) if you can fly a battlecruiser well and tank it against the right damage.
The faction standing and occasional implant rewards pretty much make doing them worthwhile, if you can get hold of a guide via Google. Some of the missions pay out a LOT of bounty money too; one Amarr COSMOS (King of the Hill 13/13) gave me about 60 million in bounty alone...
The BPCs are mostly worthless, unless you want to invest a lot of time and money in training the skills and visiting archaeology/hacking sites in a battleship to get the components. (A lot are superseded by T2 items now anyway.)

Edited by: Eran Laude on 17/08/2008 20:09:33 I recently did all of the COSMOS mission in Algintal that I could. If you're comfortable doing Level IIIs or even high-end level IIs I think you'll have no problems. I had no problems using a myrm with tech II drones, a large proportion of the gallente ones are courier missions and many more just require you to warp to a place, engage tank and deploy hammerhead IIs.
I only lost my myrm when I overestimated a Drone Matriarch in the second mission from ORE's Drone Mind which is hidden in a moon in the constellation.
The BPCs are fairly useless unless you know someone with the required skills or if you are willing to train them up yourself. They do have a novelty value though and some funny names. I got a 'love' MAR BPC from one agent

A lot of the lvl 1 - 3 caldari cosmos missions are pretty easy. You will need to fly a badger or equivalent hauler of another race for a couple of the courier missions, the rest can be done in a cruiser / bc without much problem. I ran most of them in an assault frigate.
The lvl 4s are harder, and the ones which involve gathering items and talking to agents in the .4 system are best avoided as the system usually has a number of active pirates looking for cosmos running care bears. (i had a guy from Idle Guns try and lock me down in a station in the .4 system with an abaddon and a moros sat at the undock point warp scramming my cerberus and trying to charge me 20mil to leave. They didnt get my iskies or my ship though, so all's well that ends well ;)
Have a look here for details on what you need and where to get it, as well as rewards and faction standing increases:-

Good luck and have fun :)
