Greetings,
I haven't played EvE for more than a few minutes at a time in more than six months now. I have been paying to keep my accounts running and been swapping out skills, in the hopes that one of the factors that left me looking for something else would get sorted out.
So tell me, how is the lag in large fleet battles? What I've read on other forums so far doesn't look good, seems that lag is still a huge problem in any fight with 200+ ships.
Second, how is Faction Warfare? Is it worth coming back to play with? I burned out on TeamFortress2 maybe it's time to come back to EvE.

some people confuse "lag" with dropping frames. honestly, I was in Luminaire when they first launched th eFW expansions and with about 250 to 300 ppl trying to blow up the titan, even with max details on my system i was only getting about 40 frames per second, so not a lagfest. I'd still recommend that ppl kill their detail levels when participating in large fleet battles.
It's up to you man, honestly if you're only playing a few minutes a day it's not worth continuing if you're not gettign anything out of it.
come back and see if you like it, if not...

Brackets settings. Look them up, they help a lot with lag in big 200 vs 200 fleets. Still get laggy, but playable. 400 vs 400 isn't though :P

Heh, don't judge the game from the forums. Players like myself and various other posters who have replied to your question are nothing but *sses who have nothing better to do than complain, troll or throw crap like our monkey ancestors.
That being said, I hope you find a reason to come back. It's still a great game. |

Lag sucks, FW is win, nano is about to die a tragic death.
Yes worth playing. No it is not like TF2. Btw, does TF2 have maps with 500+ players all crowed on one small area that runs smoothly with no lag? |

your going to get lag ...although since i have moved to 0.0 i have only had one bit of lag and that was when bob were doing something down the road and we happen to be on the same node as them
so far i have had up to 90vs 100 battle and didnt lag
but i changed the client back to old grapihcs, turned off effects and turned off all brackets and was getting a good 30 FPS |

Why would you ask the forums? The only way to really know is to get on, get in a small (or large) fleet and go do some stuff!
Personally, I don't even like Factional Warfare, but it's just me. |

your comparing a heavily reinforced system that they knew would attract alot of players so they could allocate resources beforehand to the random nature of 0.0 fleet warfare where they can not pre-plan where there will be a 300 man/woman blob.
edit: this is not to say lags still as bad as it was on that I can;nt comment as like op have played very little recently although not for lag reasons. |

The truth:
Fleet fights = slideshow.
Lag is worse than ever and not isolated to .0 fleet fights and busy trade and mission hubs any more. Lag is only going to get worse until CCP either throws a lot of hardware at the problem (short term solution) or fixes their ancient node and "load balancing" system. Compounding the present lag problem, CCP is also doing another huge marketing campaign to attract more players.
You can always re-subby for 30 days and see if where and how you like play is affected by the lag.

If the game was anything like said (whined) about on the forums... ... it is a grave day indeed. |

Why would anyone, anyone at all, think that any game will fair well and be lag free with 200+ of anything??
Great that your asking first before commiting yourself and all... but you honestly knew that answer before you even asked my friend :) |

Lag is still terrible in large fleet engagements. |
